Hernanes is a very highly rated midfielder of Sao Paulo the defending champions of Brazil. He plays central midfield, is somewhat of a defensive midfielder but he has a fantastic passing range and is very two-footed. Hernanes is prime for a move to europe really as he is about 24 years old. I think he would be a fantastic signing for us in central midfield alongside palacios.
What do you guys think?
YouTube - Hernanes, '10' Sao Paolo
Someone has either been playing Football Manager 2009 or reading 442.
they just don't seem to settle in England though, do they?
He settled well in France for my almighty Lens side on FM - reckon we should take a chance!
tounge in cheek?
Very good player but unfortunately looks as if he could be going to AC Milan (especially with Pirlo leaving)

Nothings Forgotten, Nothing is ever forgotten
He'll play brilliantly if Harry gives him a 'tick' in the free role box, sets dribbling to 'often' and long shots'often' as well as a fair amount of creative freedom....
sorry for the sarcasm guys but seriously
I first heard about him from Tim Vickery, who btw should be imployed by tottenham as our south american scout as he is a tottenham fan. Then I watched a few times on the internet and he looks a top player indeed. Too bad about the milan thing but I am convinced he would be fantastic for us alongside wilson.
Well, Hernanes is a player on the way down. He's no longer a member of the Seleçao and hasn't been playing well at all for Sao Paulo, who have been weak this year.
I'd rather have Sandro on my team then Hernanes, to be honest.
Admittadly his for has been lacking this year so far but he really hasn't figured under Dunga beacuse dunga likes midfield desetroyers like gilberto silva and Felipe melo insstead of more all around midfielders such as hernanes who also can really pass the ball. When they were struggling a while back, before the confed cup, this was one of their main problems, no midfiled, or midfielders who could really pass the ball.
i've been reading this post just in awe at the knowledge guys...
442's south american stars article would be proud...(only kidding!)
your obviously knowledgable on the brazilain league so i wont argue with you when I've only seen him a few times but I know he isn't as good when pushed further up in a more attacking role. But he's a better passer than Melo and Gilberto Silva imo but not a pitbull like they are
It's not arguing mate, it's discussion
I'll disagree with Melo. Agree about Gilberto though, I'm not quite sure why he's still there. Probably for leadership. But I do think Melo is superior to Hernanes in just about any and every category.
If you are looking for a passer who can control the center of your midfield, my I suggest Cleiton Xavier of Palmeiras? He's one of the most underrated players you will find, but he's probably (havn't confirmed, but he must be) the leader in assists in Brazil. Owned by a third party too, so pay the price and you'll get him, a bit like Keirrison, Henrique (Barce) and Renato Augusto (Bayer).
