15.03 Real Madrid duo Rafael van der Vaart and Gabriel Heinze have reportedly been given another clear message by Manuel Pellegrini that they should seek another club by the start of the season. That's according to Marca. [From ESPN Transfer Blog]
Aside from Heinze and Van der Vaart, Real Madrid's entire Dutch contingent - including Wesley Sneijder, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Arjen Robben, Royston Drenthe and the man we've been linked with without success (DAMMIT), Klaas-Jan Huntelaar - has been linked with moves.
Who would the forum like to see at Spurs, assuming we could get any of them?
The obvious one is Huntelaar - we passed in favor of Crouch, I really have trouble with that - but it struck me reading the above that we really should be checking out more of the RM outers.
I reckon Heinze and either one of Van der Vaart or Sneijder could be great pick-ups.
Heinze can play left-back, but I'd mainly be tempted to bring him in as CB cover (though he could provide competition in either position, I think).
Van der Vaart or Sneijder could do a job on the left I think, or in the middle if we keep Modric out there. More creativity = a good thing, I would think.
Real Madrid's mistake (yes, mistake - why cut up your team and cull so many good players? Or if they don't leave, just unsettle them?) could be someone's gain - why can't it be ours?
"The great fallacy is that the game is first and foremost about winning. It's nothing of the kind. The game is about glory. It's about doing things in style, with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom."
-Danny Blanchflower, Ex-Spurs Captain
There wages are all to high, yet i'd still take Heinze and van dr Vaart if Tottenham became rli interested.
"Modric could play in any team in the world in my opinion, he's a fantastic footballer, top, top class."
Sneijder would b amazin can never see it happening tho, tink the only 1 who may b a possibility would b Heinze. Think he would b a good signing as long his wages arnt too high.
I agree with you. Tottenham could "fish" in Madrid, there are great players that must leave since we've got 30 players in the squad
I'll copy my post in other thread.
Madrid's transfer/loan list:
Drenthe: Loan offer.
Van der Vaart: He would be a great and doable signing for Tottenham. I think that 12M offer is enough.
Heinze: Crap... IMO. But he might be a good signing for TH.
Negredo: I've been saying for a while: This guy is great.
Garay: Nice center back. I think they might be looking for a loan
Huntelaar: ... ... etc
Diarra: He had a big injury but it seems Juventus was(is) interested
Van Nistelrooy: He might be old but he can score!
Salgado: He was a good RB... 5 years ago. Right now he is good for Qatar or MLS.
Sneijder stays. Pellegrini said he wants Wesley in the squad.
Six confirmed in Real Madrid January sale 17 November 2009 - 10:22 | Sport.co.uk
Any one up for any of these?
My favourite spurs player!
I think the only player likely is a replacement for Pavlyuchenko. Whether that player is from Real Madrid - I don't know. But we have to remain realistic. We might do an Arsenal, by selling Pav and not get a replacement. Therefore, January could be a silent period for Tottenham
i'd take Ronaldo and Alonso![]()
Gago and Drenthe please
