I can, Zhirkov will surely limit his play time under Ancelotti, and he didn't appear too happy under Scolari either. One of Chelsea's least paid players, supports Spurs (supposedly like all our targets) and has worked with 'Arry before.
The trouble is we need a natural left footed winger and Joe Cole isn't. I wouldnt disagree signing him but i wuld prefer a more left-sided player e.g Robben.

i'd play him in the middle myself. the kind of breaking through midfield player we need, in the mould of tim cahill. still not sure modric will cut it in the middle in regards to getting past the essiens of this league. though saying that; against chelsea last season he did run past bosingwa, essien and cavalho at the same time.

He's good enough to play there though, much like Modric is. I don't think 'Arry will sign a natural left footer this summer as I think he's starting to favour Danny Rose out there. He's looked good in pre-season so far so would expect him to get some game time this season.Originally Posted by Spurs4life93

And Luka Modric is one of the most gifted players in th premier league and to say he can't play in the middle..come on! he terrorised an england midfield at wembley through the middle and although we may play him on the left, the centre is by far his most effective position.
Rose has done enough to deserve some game time this season...
Modric basically does play in the middle, he isn't a left winger. Whenever we're in possession of the ball he's drifting into the middle, and when we loose the ball back out to the left again.
We don't need another crock. Cmon we have a whole back line, Hutton woody king and bale, who are sick notes. Lets not start filling the midfield with these!

didnt they go a whole season unbeaten with two 'wide players'..... Pires and Ljungberg, neither of who stayed out wide.... playing wide these days isnt like being an old school winger, times have changed...
and danny rose is england u-21's third choice left sided plyer, to me , thats not good enough to play for spurs

5 years ago he'd have been a different prospect. Fook it 2 years ago when he wasnt getting a game.
Think its too late now though as he's spent too much time in the physio room.
Jermaine Defoe is Englands 3rd choice striker, I guess you want rid of him as well? What about Gomes, he's usually Brazils no.2/3...
Rose has looked good this pre-season, and when he actually got a game with England U-21's, he looked good there as well. He has pace, takes on defenders and works hard to put the cross in. I never once suggested he should start every game at LW, just that he should get some playing time, as he could have a bright future with the club.
Haha slightly different being your nations 3rd choice centre forward to being the U21's third choice but i get your point.
