this kid is supposed to be argentina's next big thing, and argentina have a lot of good youngsters!
he could replace jermaine jenas for me, his is 19 years old and plays in CM, he plays for valencia at the moment but is on loan at athletico madrid, so due to valencia's financial crisis they maybe will have to cash in on him, i think he is worth a punt

Lost his way a little after moving to the Spanish league though. I think I'd take him over JJ but I'm not sure if he'd suit the EPL. Quite a risk if we get him but I wouldn't mind him.
COME ON YOU SPURS!!!
He looks a great player, certainly the complete opposite to Jenas. He can tackle, work back, pass, dribble with the odd bit of skill, surely we wouldnt get him though!!!
In a world full of City's and United's...there is only one Hotspur
We have witnessed how sheeeet the Premiera devision is compared to the Prem.
They have 2 top draw teams they play alot less games than us and they never achieve half what our top clubs do.
If he cant cut it there then imo there ain't much hope for the lad here.
If its anyone to replace Jenas it will have to be Manuel Fernandes.
YouTube - Manuel Fernandes
Show he can cope in the Premier League especially in the video when he had a short spell with Everton.
This guy is the bees knees. Young and is brilliant!
Banega is not likely to leave Valencia imo. He only signed a 5 year deal with them in January 2008. I know they've loaned him out & I know he's yet to really impress in La Liga but he's young & I think they'll give him time.
The guy is a definite talent. You have to think that its tough for these young South Americans. Sure they get payed loads (although Valencia haven't paid any of their players for ages!) but they have to move so far from their homes & families. At 19, that's not easy (especially how closely knit families are out there & the fact they are unlikely to have spent much time away from them at all before) but he will eventually settle & I've no doubt that the future will be big for him. I don't think it will be at Spurs tho.
Personally, I still think Moussa Sissoko would be good replacement for JJ and we have actually been linked with him, our scouts watching him play for the French U21 side the other week

another player i would replace jj with is joao moutinho, this kid is the balls, he is only 22 and is sporting lisbons captain, a great box-to-box midfielder with some goals in him, i thing we should be ambitious and up our wage bill for him, portugese players seem to adjust well to the epl and i honestly think he would come to us as every other top 4 side has somebody like him
manure - carrick
chavs - lampard, ballack, essien
scum - fiberglass
bindippers - gerrard
so sit and enjoy europe's most exciting midfielder-

I wouldn't say he's that similar to Carrick.
He's a good player, no question, but it would take some bid to prise him from Lisbon's clutches. I know they want £20m+ for him & I cannot see us going anywhere near that valuation. He's also quite short for a central midfielder at 5'7" & we're short enough in central midfield. Wilson is only 5'10" (altho he appears 10'+!!). JJ is 6ft so I'm not sure Moutinho would be an ideal replacement, although I would still pick him anyday out of the 2!

Moutinho would be great. I read an article earlier today which said Sporting want only £10M for Moutinho! That would be a bargain!

The Toffees have been told they will have to pay at least €11.1 million for the Portugal international...
8 Apr 2009 09:26:11
According to a report in the British tabloid The Daily Mirror, Premier League club Everton are hoping to complete the signing of Sporting's Joao Moutinho at the end of the season.
The 5ft 7in star recently put Premier League clubs on alert after admitting he would find it difficult to turn down the opportunity to move to England this summer.
Apparently, the Toffees have been told the 22-year-old will cost a minimum of €11.1 million (£10m) having made an initial inquiry about the midfielder.
It is thought that the Portugal international, who has scored one goal in 19 caps, has been a long-term target of Everton manager David Moyes, who tried to lure him to Goodison Park last summer.
Having risen through the youth ranks at the Estadio Jose Alvalade, Moutinho has gone on to make over over 100 appearances for the Leoes, scoring 16 goals and establishing himself as one of Europe's most promising midfielders.

That's quite a drop from the €25m they wanted in January!!! For £10m I would take him in a shot!! However, I would still not be comfortable with him replacing JJ, I really worry about our height across midfield.

Can you remember the last header Jenas won? He is not the best in the air, He is not the best at anything tbh but i think he is far to lightwieght to win alot of headers.
I would take a punt at Moutinho, he is a very good player but i do think we would have trouble attracting him.
I would love a Yid version of Viera who could grab the game by the scruff of the neck please.
Moutinho is a great player but I think if we have 2 playmakers in the middle (Modric and Moutinho) it would disrupt the balance of the team. Maybe we should go for someone more defensive minded or else more of an engine room kinda player who can pull the strings from the midfield like Raul Meireles and Lucho Gonzalez did for Porto against Manure yesterday.
COME ON YOU SPURS!!!
Going to have to agree with basskadet on this one. We definitely need a little height in our attack, as Pav is our only attacker over 6 ft.
We already have some good speed on the attack, and although I wouldn't complain about more talent, I would like to see some taller attackers.
We all follow the Tottenham!
I Want To Stay With Atletico Madrid - Ever Banega
The Argentine has admitted that he wants to stay in the Spanish capital...
9 Apr 2009 14:30:46
On-loan Valencia midfielder, Ever Banega, has declared his desire to stay with Atletico Madrid after his current deal expires.
The Argentine has been on a season long loan in the Spanish capital and Atletico have an option to purchase the youngster in the summer.
After some less than convincing performances though, it is not known if the club will wish to sign the player on a permanent basis.
Speaking to the official Atletico Madrid website, Banega spoke about his wish to remain with los Colchoneros.
"Nobody at Atletico Madrid has told me whether the club will exercise the option to sign me or not. Yes, I would like to stay...When I arrived I did so with the desire to do things well and stay here, and that is what I wish," he explained.
"It would hurt me if Atletico Madrid did not decide to sign me because as I say I want to stay here. If it doesn't happen then I will try to succeed in another team, but I repeat that Atletico are a big team and I want to stay."
Banega has yet to establish himself as a first team player under either Javier Aguirre or Abel Resino and with Ignacio Camacho coming through the ranks, he is likely to find it hard to cement his place in the starting XI.
However, he revealed that he is ready to wait for his chances and that he will take advantage of them when they come.
"Everyone likes to start but whenever I play I always try to give my all. One always wants to be prominent. Javier Aguirre and Abel Resino have given me chances; some I have taken advantage of, some not," he said.
"I would like more chances. Certainly I had some, but then I was sent off, and suspended, so I cannot complain. Now I will try to take advantage of the minutes so I get to play more."
