Report: Aston Villa To Swap John Carew For Tottenham Hotspur's Jermaine Jenas
The transfer rumours surrounding Jenas have stepped up a notch, with a report suggesting that he could be on his way north to Villa. John Carew could head in the opposite direction.

According to a report in the Metro, Premier League clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are considering the possibility of a swap-deal involving Jermaine Jenas and John Carew.
It was reported earlier today that the Villans, along with Everton, hold an interest in acquiring the services of Jenas, who may be told he is surplus to requirements by Spurs manager Harry Redknapp this summer.
Apparently, Villa boss Martin O'Neill has identified the 26-year-old midfielder as a possible replacement for Gareth Barry, who could finally depart the Midlands-based outfit for Liverpool at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, it is thought that Redknapp is also set to cash-in on either Darren Bent or Roman Pavlyuchenko, if not both, this summer and has earmarked Carew as a possible replacement.
It is claimed that the Norway international striker's playing time at Villa Park will be limited once Emile Heskey returns to full fitness, and O'Neill therefore may allow the former Valencia, Roma and Lyon forward to leave in search of regular first-team football.

Now before anyone gets their hopes up - remember that the Metro is a free newspaper distributed in various train stations. 'Nuff said.
COME ON YOU SPURS!!!
Some say it would be a swap for Jenas, others say it would be a swap for Bent.

carews a great hold up player, much better than heskey imo. not sure he is the best man for spurs though.
Good Evening, he is thirty this year has little pace, and is injury prone...
Pains me to say this, but I'd sign Crouch before Carew!!
I need to go and lay down...
No thanks.
Sell JJ and Bent and get 1 decent player.
Swapping JJ for Carew is a bad idea. I think id prefer cash tbh so we can buy who we want and not who O'Neill wants to off load.

Carew has height, strength and holds up the ball well and would be a good link up with Keane/Modric/Lennon and would definately be a good addition on set pieces.
I do believe it's time for JJ and Bent to move on and to display their talents elsewhere.
What talents???
In a world full of City's and United's...there is only one Hotspur
Clarkey-I'm trying to be diplomatic mate!! hmmm (Which isn't normally one of my strengths)
I think he should just go to me Jenas has not really shown much of anything for a good while now so a change in rythym would be good.
I'd take carew. If he could stay fit, he's immense and I've got a soft spot for him for knocking the scum out the CL group stages with Valencia. Great hold up player to keane/defoe.
As much as I hate Bent and Jenas I would no way want to swap either of them for the likes of Carew I can't stand the bloke and the question is do we really need him with the likes of Pav, Keano, Benty & JD upfront you know ...
why not carew for bent?
