While Arsenal were coming to terms with Thierry Henry's exit, Charlton striker Darren Bent last night agreed to join Tottenham for £30,000 a week less than was on offer at West Ham a week ago.

Spurs will pay a club record £16million for Bent, with £13m payable now and a further £3m in success-related add-ons.

While the transfer fee eclipses the £10.9m paid for Bulgarian Dimitar Berbatov last summer and the White Hart Lane record of £11m for Ukrainian flop Sergei Rebrov in 2000, Bent's decision to accept £45,000 a week over five years, rather than £75,000 a week at Upton Park, is even more staggering.

Great. Now let's get rid of Mido not Defoe. With the Gooners losing Henry it's Spurs on the up and Arsenal on the way down !You can't beat a bit of schadenfreude can you ?

Seriously though I hope we don't get a problem with an ego war in the dressing room. We have now got 4 class strikers and they will all want to play every game and somebody has to be disappointed. It takes a lot to be able to cope with not being first choice and resigned to a life of rotation.I just hope MJ's counselling skills match those of his football nous.

if they are good enough they can play a bit further up the field

they dont all have to play striker, surely there must be some flexibility if we keep Defoe

he is a talented player and he'd be a waste being a bench warmer all season,

get him on the field if we keep him

i just hope bent is worth it.. I have a sour feeling he isnt goin to be worth that price tag.. Dimi has been a dream and worth every sent, but i can fell another Rebrov story with bent, we pay heaps, he plays ok.. then pretty well gets forgotten and goes else where...

BUT, I will VERY GLADLY take all this back galdly if he plays as good as he is meant too be worth :4:
