Ashley Young linked to Spurs!!

If the Daily Mirror is to be believed, Harry Redknapp has marked Ashley Young & Roque Santa Cruz as Tottenham's 2 main summer targets.

We've been linked to Santa Cruz before & while I don't doubt he could be a good signing & offer us something up top we don't already have, I am far more excited about the prospect of Ashley Young.

We have been in dire need of a LW &, for my money, there's not a better one in the Prem right now than Young. The thought of Young on the left & Lennon on the right, well, I nearly had to be excused.

I'm not sure Villa would entertain him leaving, it would need to be a big bid that's for sure, but I reckon Ashley would be up for it, being the lifelong Spurs fan he is! Chelsea are also interested but personally I reckon we could pull a fast one on them in this case, all things considered.

It may also need someone moving in the opposite direction, perhaps David Bentley as I know O'Neill is interested in h9im. Personally I would prefer us to keep Bentley, especially if we landed Santa Cruz also, but I wonder how long he will sit 2nd best to Lennon.

There's no doubt tho that if he does stay, with Bentley, Young & Lennon we'd have the 3 most promising, English wingers around.

I think without Harry we would have absolutly no chance of this coup . But the man knows how to get what he wants , Palacios is a prime example . Also they were interested in Bent , so we have something they want .

Villa seem to have a decent relationship with Spurs at the moment, better than with Chelsea I would say. Also, O'Neill & Harry both respect each other highly & both want to support British management. Ashley Young I reckon would definitely pick Spurs over the Chavs too. We're his club & I know he'd love to come here. The question is whether he wants immediate CL football but I reckon Harry can sweet talk him around that. Ashley is young & has plenty of time for CL. Would he want a quickfix from a Chelsea boring team or would he want to be part of taking Spurs back to the big time by playing exciting football?

I wanted Spurs to get Young when he first signed for Villa from Watford as he always looked a very good, capable player on the left wing. It would be a very good signing for us and i would be happy to let Bent or Bentley go the other way.

i dont rate ashley young as high as most people on here do, if hes that good, with our chronic lack of left wingers, how come he hasnt got a start for england yet?

Simply because of his age & trying to accommodate an already cluttered midfield. He was fairly unknown outside of Watford about a year & a half ago but since then his rise has been meteoric. Another couple of season playing at the level he is & as those England midfield regulars such as Lampard & Beckham continue to age & slowdown, Young will be an England regular. At the moment Capello is sticking with Downing but that will only last so long. He puts in 1 decent performance every 5 games at that level, & that's not good enough. Young will get a proper go soon &, if he takes it, he will be in the team much more frequently. You could say the same about Lennon really.

My only concern about having Young on the left & Lennon on the right would be when we broke, our strikers would be left in their dust!

i would love young at spurs think we have to pay about 20-25m like but if we signed him we would be banging on the CL spots

i think young is an amazing player and would love to see him at the lane at 25m it would still be good business i mean we spent 17m on bentley and 16m on bent neither have set the world alight so why not

i read somewhere that young is a spurs fan could be wrong thou

the big thing would be actually agreeing a fee with villa carnt see them wanting to sell there best player but just depends how commited the owner is i dont think a club like villa could reject anywhere near 25m
