Manchester City and Tottenham are interested in signing Italian defender Fabio Cannavaro when his contract ends at Real Madrid in the summer. (Daily Mirror)
What do you guys think? I think he'd be a great choice to add strength to our CB department, and if he could come on a free it would be an awesome deal.
COME ON YOU SPURS!!!
im guessing his wages will be sky high plus he looked a shadow of his former self against the bindippers in the cl.we play italy next wed so id like to have a better look at him then
Ist he like a million years old now.
Yeah and his wages would be stupid.
COME ON YOU SPURS!!!
in the last world cup he was the best defender by a country mile, him and pirlo just tore it up completely.
Not for me tbh, I think he is well past his best and as said his wages will be sky high.
35 years old (and he'll be 36 at the start of next season) is pushing it but he is still quality. Yes he (and the rest of Real) were shredded by Pool the other week but they've been awesome in La Liga recently.
In the last 13 La Liga games, Real have won them all & conceded just 5 times (2 of those in 1 game against Bilbao which they won 5-2!).
Cannavaro was one of, if not the, best defenders in the world even just a couple ears ago. If he came we wouldn't get much more than a season out of him I reckon but I would not be averse to the idea, especially on a free.
Yes his wages might be high (£4m / year) but he would have to expect a massive pay cut, & I think he would for the opportunity to continue playing at such a high level at his age. He'd be unlikely to play every game for us but he would be a great experienced head to have around the place, World Cup winner no less. Brilliant to have around the dressing room & for passing on his knowledge to our youth & also for backup for Ledley/Woody. If he's not willing to drop those wages tho, there's no way he's coming to Spurs. We may stretch our wage structure on occasion but we won't blow it out the water, not for a 36 year old, even if he is free! He can go to City in that case.
I would still prefer we went in for his teammate, Gabby Heinze, tho!

Will we stay or will we go now?
If we go there will be trouble
and if we stay we'll do the double
So Levy has got let us know
Will we stay or will we go!
Rafael, Van Der Vaart
ƒuck Chelsea & Frank Lampard
with a nick-nack paddywhack he'll be getting goals
when Lampard's too fat & old
COYSAFOYS
On his namesake alone he will have a que of clubs wanting him to raise there profile and sell some extra shirts so i dont think he will take a 'massive pay cut' at all. I dont think it will be cut by much and i dont want a overpaid has been at the club who wouldn't have no chance of handling the fast pace of English football.Yes his wages might be high but he would have to expect a massive pay cut, & I think he would for the opportunity to continue playing at such a high level at his age. No thanks. I want Spurs to concentrate on making Daws a world class CB and not bring in new players to push him too far down the pecking order.

im very doubtful about it happening, but as far as nurturing our young defenders such as dawson, dont see how bringing in the best centre back of modern times could do his development any harm - and as bass said he is a world cup winner aswell so would bring in some all important winning mentality. like i say, i dont think it will happen though, he'd struggle over here in england, and a move back to his homeland seems more likely.

exactly what we don't need, another centre back who is aging and probably can't play a full season of football. Let City have him, let them waste their millions on another flop. He is the sort of player who would be quite happy to do nothing at get paid lavishly for it.
Wouldn't see him coming to the Premiership, he will go to Napoli and join his brother there and retire there.
36 no i don't think we need him. don't see what he will add to us apart from expereince
