Chalton have denied a fee of 12mill plus Gardner has been reached
"We have a valuation of Darren and we will not sell for less than that," Varney told the South London Press.
"There have been other bids and they don't meet our valuation. West Ham matched our valuation and that was why they were given permission last week to speak to Darren.
"No other club has managed that and as things stand Darren will be staying with Charlton. He is our player and under contract to us."
We will not pay 17mill for him and should not expect them to lower there valuation cos we are a bigger club, we moan when Man usa do it to us with our players. Fair play to chalton stick to your guns and only except your valuation and make him stay if its not meet
