I haven't heard any rumours as such but this is more of a suggestion. I would love to see Lahm come to the Lane as a left back, i know he prefers to play right back but he has shown many a time that he is a more than capable left back. He gets forward alot and can score a great goal to. Someone tell Harry!![]()
I haven't heard much about that fella for a while now. I though United or Liverpool were going to try and sign him?
I suppose you could call it the silence of the Lahm.
I'll get my coat.
"There's always next year..."
dont see why he would leave bayern for tottenham.....he would be hated in germany if he left bayern for a team that is not above bayerns level
sorry misread what you said
tottenham_14
we could beat bayern![]()
this is all try but putting it aside... no way a club like us could afford a player like lahm. especially with the shortages on full backs. he is a quality quality player and wouldnt go unless its for a LOT of money. i mean sevilla wanted 30 mill from chelsae for danni alves, and i reckon hes around the same level in terms of quality
I know what you are saying in respect that he is a good player but Lahm is a RB & we have too many of those already! I know he can play at LB, & do a good job too, but we need to stop buying players for positions that aren't their 1st choice. We'd be better off going for an out & out, left-footed LB. Someone like Taiwo at Marseille (& the rumours were hotting up over him leaving OM in the summer today, with OM supposedly having lined up a replacement).
I would like to see us try a sneaky bid on Gabby Heinze too. I just have a feeling that he would love to come back to the EPL & would comprehend the significance of a club of our size. I also think that Real might see him as expendable by the end of this season given his age & them having a direct replacement in Metzelder. I would love to see both Heinze & Taiwo at Spurs. We are criminally under-represented at LB, with about 4/5 proper RBs & 2 LBs (both of whom only appear to know how to attack). Taiwo could bring youth, ambition & talent whilst Heinze would bring those defensive qualities as well as bucketloads of experience & a calming influence to that position for us.

Lahm plays LB week in week out as far as I know. Would be a great offensive signing but needs to work on his defensive side. I prefer Taiwo
COME ON YOU SPURS!!!
Heard rumours on Mersey side that the Bindippers are keen to land him and that he would prefer to play CL football rather than not, regardless of what team it is. Be a bit of a sore point for Manure fans if it did happen.
The good old CL pulling its gargantuan weight again!!!!!
We can afford to sign players like Heinze but we just dont have the attraction that the CL brings with it. Frustrating to say the least.
After all who in there right mind would want to live in a thieves playground like Liverpool if it wasnt for playing in the CL?
"There's a fine line between madness and genius - God removed that line and replaced it with Gazza"
I dont want us to search outside the premiership for a LB or LW , most players we we buy overseas are not up to it , i dont give a f*ck what anyone says the only reason Berbatoss got away with what he did is because of his touch of genius . Other than that we were like a 10 man team . Bent can do it iif = and i mean if he stops glory hunting, and gets stuck in like he does lately . I actually think he should have his tv taken out of his house so he can forget his problems . He can do the goal stuff but i think he tries to replicate his past success moves , i dont know if anyone else has noticed but its like watching replays . He needs to use new moves to outfox the opposition , when it comes to the long ball he marks himself out of the game hoping he can get the better of a centre back . I'm not saying he can't do his job in that department , but our team are actually in a different derartment shopping for something else . I have thought about this a bit now = Bent gets one more season in my book as does Pavlyuchenko .
How did this get on to Pav and Bent????
Anyway...........
Lahm is a RB/W and as others have said we are rich down that side. Great little player bags of energy and real class but we have got lennon and Brillcream boy in midfield and Charlie Huts and the adaptable Zakora to fill the gaps at RB.
Heinz IMO isnt that good. Real fans dont rate him and TBH he has hardly set the world alight and I think the dippers perfectly demonstrated the gulf in class between the two leagues. He wouldnt stand up in our league week in and week out.
I know that Ekoto has pulled his finger out but its only a matter of time before he pulls another stinker out and looses us another important game.
I dont know what the answer is but I think the Taiwo lad is a definate improvement on what we have. We would be able to use Ekoto as a reasonable fall back option but I fear if he wasnt played regularly he wouldnt put in a great shift.
You may well be right, I don't watch much Bundesliga. I do know that Lahm started off as a RB & I'm pretty sure he's right-footed (or at least stronger with his right). He could well play LB now but like you say, he is very attacking, more of a wing-back type.
In regards to Heinze, we all know how much he'd love to go to Liverpool &if they do come in for him then it would be his likely destination. However, they are pretty skint at the mo & I can't see them being massively active in the transfer market again. They'll try for a couple bargains & get 1 major purchase but otherwise they'll have to sell to buy, even if they do win the CL AND the Prem! If we got in there before them with a strong offer that Liverpool felt they can't compete with, I think we could persuade him to come to us.
I disagree with you tho Unit about Heinze. He has been superb recently for Real, regardless of the Liverpool result which I actually think was massively down to Ramos's naivety (he had never been to Anfield & was convinced it was nothing special & that Liverpool would just defend & hang onto their 1 nil lead, which he felt they did not deserve to begin with. He was shocked from the 1st second and, as happened here at Spurs, he just does not know how to react when things don't go to plan. Look at Harry against Villa, it wasn't working so he changed it & quickly. Ramos just stands there looking bemused as to why it isn't working rather than actually doing something about it!). Anyway, I think Heinz is very good defensively, perhaps not so good going forward, but then that would perhaps bring us a bit of balance. He's aggressive & he's a winner (something we really need in our side) & his experience & personality would add to s massively both on & off the field. Fergie never wanted to sell Heinze in the 1st place, it was Heinze who wanted to leave for Liverpool (something Fergie would not allow so he did sell him, but to Madrid instead!). Most United fans I know thought very highly of Heinze & only started talking bad of him after he declared he wanted to go to Liverpool. I guess that is a little bit like someone being at Spurs & saying the want to leave for Arsenal, not going to happen . . . unless your Sol (spit) Campbell

Did I hear somewhere that Roberto Carlos might be going back to Real Madrid? If that is true surely Heinze would become available. If not we could stick cheeky bid in for Carlos, his free-kicks are unreal.
If we are going to go for someone in Britain I would prefer someone like Warnock, he has a great left peg and there arent many better in England. Outside of England, we should be going for Taiwo or Kolarov at Lazio, although have only seen him play a couple of times and I know hes a Football Manager legend!!!
In a world full of City's and United's...there is only one Hotspur
I agree Clarkey, I think Stephen Warnock would be a great addition- a naturally left-sided player with plenty of Premier League experience and if Blackburn do go down (which I'm not convinced they will at present) he could become availabe for a reasonable fee.
