Tottenham Hotspur Pondering Move For Celtic's Aiden McGeady - Report
Having scouted the Republic of Ireland international, Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is preparing an end of season offer...

According to a report in the British tabloid The Daily Express, Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing Celtic winger Aiden Mcgeady.
Apparently, Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is a fan of the 22-year-old and having sent scouts to watch him play in recent weeks is ready to spend £7 million to take him to White Hart Lane.
It is claimed that the 62-year-old enquired about his availability in the January transfer window but opted to seal the signing of Robbie Keane from Liverpool instead.
However, with Redknapp hoping to turn the north London based outfit's fortunes around next season it is thought that he will focus his attention on the Glasgow-born Republic of Ireland international in the summer.
Having had falling-outs with Hoops boss Gordon Strachan and team-mate Artur Boruc, the Scottish champions may well be willing to sell the vibrant winger for the right price.

COME ON YOU SPURS!!!
I like McGeady. Whenever I watch Celtic, in any competition, him & Scott Brown are the 2 players that really stand out.
mcGeady is exciting to watch, there's no question. He gets the ball & makes things happen but I do wonder at times whether Celtic have the right players around him to capitalise on what he does. It will be good to see him here, alogside his international team-mate Robbie. I didn't realise he was so young either. It feels like he's been around for ages he's had eeryone talking about him so much.
He's different sort of player to Downing but if we get him for £7m we'll be laughing! I rate Downing also but he was useless against us the other day & if we spend £16m on him he'll need to be a helluva lot more consistent.

He would be the final piece of the puzzle. Slot him in at LM, let him and Lennon wreck havoc on the wide outsides, which lets Luka and Wilson run the middle. Keep Gio, Adel, and Bale for cover on the left. Zokora for Cover in the Middle, along with whoever doesn't get sold. McGeady, Palacios, Modric, Lennon. A solid midfield indeed.
Would be a much cheaper alternative to Downing or Cole, although i would love to see JC in a Spurs shirt to rile the Chav fans.

seen this guy play for the ROI a few times. looked to make everything they had going forward. good player and better than downing too!
"It's about getting the best out of the lads and confidence. Life is about confidence. Whatever you do in life, if you are not confident you don't perform. It's up to me to get the confidence running through the players and if I can get that instilled you'll see a team that will really play." - Harry Redknapp - 29/10/2008
Mc Geady is class like bass said i dont think he can be consistent in scotland because of his team mates i mean samaras a city reject and that dutch fella who im not even going to try and spell them to strikers are not even in the same class as bent
7m is a bargin id also go for brown as well and get rid of jenas, huddlestone and sadly zokora
we could get brown and mc geady for the same price as downing id rather have the scottish pair than that useless smoggie
As a R.of Ireland supporter i would have to admit that Mc Geady is a decent little winger. Though it will take him quite a while to adapt to playing at tottenham after being at a piss poor celtic side and the weak scotts league. Given a choice id have Joe Cole.
good player but is a home boy and has a bad attitude plus if hes goes anywhere im guessing it will be villa because of o neill.this guy has all the tricks in the world ,pace ,2 good feet and could be the answer to our prayers but and this is a big but ,he needs to buck up his ideas both on and off the pitch
I wouldnt bet on it IRE. With Young and Aggbuonlarwhoire on the wings i dont think he will fancy his chances of playing every week.
At least with us he knows he will pretty much be gauranteed a start every week.
P.S glad to be of assistance Darlington. Helpful is my middle name.![]()

hate to put a dampner on the poss mcgeady move , but this guy cant even hold down a regular 1st team spot at celtic, a mate of mine ,who i work with is a massive hoops fan, and has said to me before that we are wellcome to mcgeady ,as he reakons he has not matured into the player everone thought he was going to be, of course he could be wrong, but if were going make a move i think a minimum fee would be in order and not top dollar.
Can I make this point now before people keep going on about it.
JOE COLE IS NOT A LEFT WINGER!!!!!
Joe is a right midfielder / attacking midfielder & also plays as a support striker. He only really plays LM for England because he could not take the RM off of our country's then talisman David Beckham. Joe Cole will not be bought to solve our LW problem, at least I h. ope not as he is right-footed.
The thing with Joe is that he is such a good player that you can pretty much put him anywhere, even striker, & he'll do the job well.
We need to get Joe imo, but we still need to get a LW & i like the idea of McGeady at the moment.
The reason why he can't hold down a 1st team place at Celtic is because he is always a loggerheads with their manager Strachan. Don't forget the guy is only 22 also. He's the best they have got in that position by some distance. Many Celtic fans are bitter about his relationship with the manager & ultimately the club. I watch a decent amount of Celtic games, I wouldn't say I support them but they've long been my favourite team north of the border, & he is definitely one of their best players. He had a dip in form for a bit but when he is on his game he is quality & many of those close to him at Celtic feel he is getting back to his best.
Also, I don't think he'll go to Villa, they've got Ashley Young whereas we can offer him regular 1st team football. His attitude is not as bad as is made out. He fell out with Strachan and has had bust-ups but I think he's been a little bit unlucky that they've all centred around him & perhaps a move away would be beneficial to him.

i,m just not sure if mcgeady is prem league quality, he does have his probs with strachan thats true, but as long as we dont pay big money for him and overpay him (like some recent signings) maybe he,s worth signing.
£7m is a drop in the ocean compared to what we have spent on certain players.
£15m on Bentley and £16m on Bent, both are flops imo, although some disagree.
TBH i would love to see us sign Mcgeady, ive got a real good feeling about him and i think he can set the EPL alight with the right manager and at the price qouted its well worth a punt.
Harry is a lot more laid back than Strachan and would give Mcgeady time to settle in the team and find his feet in the EPL. Strachan has a duty to win the SPL every single season and if 1 player drags his heals or hits a bad patch it is innevitable there will be friction. Unfortunately for Celtic it happens to be one of their star players
I would love to see Mcgeady and Keano linking up together.
