We need a new striker in the summer as it looks as though Bent is off to a team that needs a boot boy (only kidding).
We have been linked with every one who wears boots at the moment but i think there could be a few hidden gems out there.
I like the look of Andre Pierre-Gignac, he is Strong, quick and skillful and always seems to be in the right place at the right time. He is top scorer in the French Ligue 1 with 15 goals for Toulouse and is being touted as the next big thing in France. I believe he is only 23 years old and over 6 feet tall and he will be alot cheaper than Cavenaghi.
Video evidence Andre-Pierre Gignac
What do you guys think?

He is one of the in-form strikers in Ligue 1 at the moment, but I don't think we really need a forward in summer because even if Bent and Campbell depard we'll still have Keane, Defoe and Pava. We should prioritise our left side with the signing of Taiwo and a left winger and then if there's some spare change left maybe we can move in for a 4th choice forward or a 4th choice CB.
COME ON YOU SPURS!!!
i agree with cmonuspurs. we dont need another top striker. wats the point of having 4? to send us bankrupt. no we just need a decent striker who is cheap and can come in from time to time and is content with sitting on the bench. im still pretty irritated with us selling bent as it is bound to be a very very bad business deal. seems to happen a lot with us no??
Ok guys it seems that the 2 of you have pretty strong oppinions on this subject.
I just want point out that the only proven 25+ goal scorer we have in our squad at the moment is Keano. Pavlyuchenko cant score a league goal even if you put the ball in the net for him and JD isnt prolific enough to score over 20 goals for us every season.
We know that Keane and JD dont work as a partnership so that means Pav will start every single game partnering either one of them whether he is on a bad streak or not.
We need another striker when Bent goes simply for the fact that it creates competition for places (Pav mainly)and motivates players to give 110% every game or be dropped.
As for going bankrupt, behave will you. Gignac will cost no more than £8m and we will get that for Bent from Villa.
I dont understand this blinded support for Bent either. Ok so he has scored the majority of our goals this season, but thats his job for christ sake. He is not consistant enough and is too light wieght if we want to push for CL football next season. He has had his chance now its time for him to go.

I don't agree. I think if Defoe plays consistently he can scored 20+ a season. He proved at Pompey that he's got the quality to do it.
'Arry said he's wi lling to give Keane-Defoe a try, but to be honest I don't think it'll work either. How do we know that this Gignac will fit in though?
COME ON YOU SPURS!!!
It will be a gamble buddy, but all strikers outside the EPL will be. Pavlyuchenko has proven how hard it can be even for the best Russian marksman to score in the league.
I agree that Defoe with the right support can score more than he has for us in the past and maybe Arry can get him and Keane firing goals as our previous managers failed, but that can be as big a gamble as taking a punt on signing Gignac IMO.
We know pretty well that Bent is our 4th choice striker now, he is almost certainly leaving us in the summer as he has stated that himself and either a swap deal for Martins or N'zogbia from Newcastle would be good but a cash sale as rumours suggest would be more acceptable giving Arry the option to sign who he wants.
Gignac is just a suggestion and from what i have seen from him this season i see it as a pretty good coup for Spurs should the price be right.
I also have an awful feeling the Goons are eyeing him up and would be gutted if he turns out to be the next Henry for them and we miss out.
Maybe we will never know what he is capable of in the EPL should a big European side come in for him. But ask yourself this, should we show interest in him should Goons, Real or Barca make a bid? Surely then it shows he is hot property.
Totally my oppinion guys and i am not making him out to be the next Van Nistelroy or Shearer but it is tempting given his goal scoring record.

Best Russian marksman = Pogrebnyak. He should have been the Euro 08 star if it wasn't for injury. I'm still glad we have Pava though, and I'm sure he'll become a great player for us.
Gignac would be worth a punt on a loan with option to buy IMO.
Bent is as good as off for sure. Personally I don't like it but I can't do anything about it but move on. I'm sure we can get a more skillful player who's also a good scorer to replace him.
Gooners another forward? With RVP, Ade, Eduardo, Vela, Simpson, Bendtner? Highly doubt it.
Sure if the bigger names come in for him then it shows that he could be something good, but of course we have to help him relise his potential. We can't let him be another Bale.
I get your point. I do agree he would be a good punt, and it would be worth the risk because if he's a failure we still have 3 top class strikers on board.
COME ON YOU SPURS!!!
can someone tell me if the rumour is true that we will put a bid in for man city goalkeeper joe hart
Gignac is looking absolute quality at the moment. However, I am a little bit uncomfortable with his inexperience. He's 23 & taking the French league by storm but he has ever played outside of France & that worries me. We see a lot of players destroy Ligue , then come to England & flop (Florent Malouda & Julien Faubert being the obvious two). I think much of their lack of success is down to their lack of experience. I know Malouda was already 26/27 when he came to England but he had never played outside of his own country before he came here & I think that is what players find difficult to get used to. Some take a little time to find their feet, some never manage it, but the ones who tend to settle down fast are the ones who have already played in several different countries & are used to change. Deco (Brazil, Portugal, Spain), Berbatov (Bulgaria, Germany). Its not a hard & fast rule & there are obviously going to be exceptions & (if we are indeed going to go for Gignac) lets hope he is one but I really think it is helpful to have experienced the process of settling into a new country already before coming to the Premiership where you will be judged very fast.
Gignac has been playing superbly this season but his goal record prior is not particularly great. There are other players I'd much rather we go for to be honest, notably the Cav (who has played in several countries, has already dipped in form & come out the other side blazing & has extremely high goal ratios throughout his career. I actually don't think we'd get Gignac that cheap either & I reckon we could pry Cav from Bordeaux for around £10m)! Don't forget that Gignac was kept out of the Toulouse team last year by Johann Elmander (now at Bolton) & up until this season only had just over 20 goals for HIS ENTIRE CAREER!!
I don't know if anybody will be able to tell you irrefutably that we will bid on Joe as the summer is still someway off & everything at this point is surely speculative but people are certainly suggesting that we are looking at him. There is already a thread on Joe in this section.

What I'm not sure about is Gignac's playing style. There are 2 kinds of forwards these days. Forwards who hold the ball up for their team mates to join the attack and goalscorers. As for goalscorers we already have Defoe, Keane and Bent (Who'll probably be off in the summer) who are capable of goalscoring, but the only forward who can really hold the ball up is Pava, and he isn't exactly an expert at that.
If Gignac is a goalscorer, then I don't think we should get him. We should aim for someone who can hold the ball up instead.
COME ON YOU SPURS!!!
Gignac is a bit of both but he almost entirely uses his right foot only. Every one of his goals this year were scored with his right foot. I don't know. I watch quite a bit of French Football & he has definitely impressed this term but I just can't help feeling he will fade out & find it difficult to find anything like this type of form again. I could be wrong & I hope I am but whatever the case I think that splashing out on him solely because of his goal return from this one season could be too big a risk.
