According to a report in the British tabloid The Daily Mail, Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring the progress of Venezuelan youngster Carlos Fernandez.

The 18-year-old left-sided attacking midfielder has produced some impressive performances for Venezuela recently at the South American under-20 championships.

Fernandez, who plies his trade for Deportivo Anzoátegui in his homeland, has also been linked with some of Europe's biggest football clubs, including Lyon, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

However, it is claimed that the whizz-kid has a British-based agent, Barry Yeubrey, and would prefer to sign for an English club.
