L'Equipe believes the French champions are willing to pay €20m (£13.5m) for Ivory Coast midfielder Keita, who has a €22m (£15m) release clause in his contract.
The newspaper claims the player may have already agreed a four-year deal with the club.
Tottenham are reported to have made a €19million (£13million) bid for the 25-year-old last week, while Liverpool have also apparently been weighing up a bid.
Keita is under contract at Lille until 2010, but is keen to leave as the club has not qualified for Europe.
13.5m!!! Never heard of him till the other day and havent seen any of the really big boys interested, so cant be that highly rated. If were gonna spend that sort of money get Nani or MGP in first, then worry about creative centre mid.
Or get both of the above and deploy Nani through the centre, doesnt look naturally left footed from what i've seen of him.
Think he is a winger, he was in the french leagues team of the year. Very good player but looks like we are gonna miss out anyway. Would like to see Nani or Gamst but would prefer Petrov.
The sleeping giant has awoke
At that sort of money he would need to be awesome!!!!
I heard we were interested a week or two ago but never heard of him, guess I didn't pay enough attention during the world cup. I'd pay more attention if Northern Ireland qualified...
We don't really need more midfielders do we? Aside from the left obviously. If we get any center/right midfielders my opinion is that they would need to be great as we have loads of ok/good already.
But then at 13mil or so this guy maybe is that good.
