Stephen Hunt to solve the left

Spurs are preparing to trigger a release clause in Stephen Hunt's Reading contract worth just £5m. I think Hunt is a very good player & he always impressed me playing for Reading in the Prem. He will definitely give us decent balance down the left & can pitch in with goals too (more than Downing would have & he would have cost us £15!).

He's a left-winger, reminds me a little of Georgie Best but more because he is Irish & his looks than the way he plays! Having said that, he is very good & worth every penny of £5m. He's very skillful but also gets proper stuck in. You may remember him as the one who smashed in Petr Cech's skull & anyone who clatters a Chelsea player is OK in my book! (I know Cech almost died but he didn't, did he)

Now this is one player Harry has to get the deal done for i like him a lot very busy lots of energy in fact everything Jenas should`ve had and all for £5m

Hunt is a pikey and should be left in his caravan at the Madjeski.

I've seen plenty of him in games against Reading in the last two seasons and have no inclination to see him at Spurs.

Perhaps that's just because I think he's a right dirty so-and-so? First impressions count for a lot. He caused us plenty of issues in the games we played against them, for sure, but the question arises - why, when Reading were relegated, didn't anybody snap him up?

He was heavily chased by Prem clubs but Reading wouldn't sell & he pledged his immediate future to the club. He was certainly the subject of a lot of offers tho. He is not a dirty player either, far from it, but he won't duck out of a challenge. I would love to see him at Spurs & would take him for £5m over Downing for £15m all day long! I don't have any problem with Pikeys (I hate that word!).

I beg to differ, but let's just agree that we don't share the same view on this.

In terms of value, I'd go along with the view that £5m on Hunt is better business than £15m on Downing. Doesn't necessarily mean I want either of them!

i would like to see hunt at spurs but didnt we sell malbranque a year ago who is of similar if not better quality than hunt, were going backwards with some players and losing so much money with ****e signings, weve just wasted 16mil on defoe along with 16mil on bent 3years ago to name just afew.

i personally would play bale left midfield and if you remember when we signed him united also wanted him and fergie said he would play him left midfield, hes good at going forward and cant defend to save his life.

Malbranque is not a left winger tho. I'm not even sure if he's left footed.I know he played there for us & I know he did a decent enough job but its far from his favoured position. Whether or not he's a better player than Hunt is debatable but its unfair to say its a step backwards as Malbranque was part of the old regime. Harry never sold Malbranque, that was Ramos, so I think we just need to forget about that one.

We've actually only spent a little money on Defoe as most of the fee was payed by what Pompet already owed us. They still had to pay us for Mendes ffs, so god knows when we would have seen that money otherwise!

Direct competition is necesary and I agree that 5 mill on him is a hell of alot better that 15 on Downing.
