It is being suggested that Spurs could turn their attention to Manchester United's Nani if the bid for Downing fails to progress.
There is no doubting Nani's talents as a footballer but I feel their are huge question marks over his character. He has a reputation for diving and has a slightly inflated ego. It is not necessarily a bad thing & I've certainly heard no complaints from his teammates but their is just something about him that really bugs me!
Whilst there are no solid links to him as yet, we were interested in acquiring his services before United eventually snagged him. How much he would be available for & whether United would allow him to leave is also debatable but I can see where they're coming from.

No! No anything but him, he looks up to Ronaldo and anyone who looks up to this chap is a bad influence. You might say how... show boating, diving and the rest.
I don't want him at our club, anyone.. I'd rather have Alan Sugar play LM.
Wasn't Tottenham favourites to sign him befoe Manure hijacked the move and got him?
Im sure he is a good player, capable of taking people on and crossing the ball as well as scoring the odd goal here and there but he does have some bad parts to him like diving and attitude. If the money was right i would like us to take a chance on him.
He is playing like sh!t. Seriosly overrated.
Mustard I'd have him in a flash!!!
did you see him tonight punit he was pony mate and i can tell you why andy todd kicked him up the harris after about 10 mins and he sh.it himself he didnt want to know everytime the ball went near him he was in the air before he was even touched hes like a poor mans ronaldo with about 10% of his talent he has all the flicks in the world but no heart bet if he was in a spurs shirt you would tire of him very quickily sorry to disagree with you mate it doesnt happen very often ha ha

Evening Chaps,
I thing we can safely assume that we won't be getting Nani to be honest. I personally don't rate him but doubt that Manure would give him up anyway. Forget Nani, forget Downing, think Harry might have to pull some magic from the foreign leagues for that frustrating left wing position.
I would wait and see over Downing chaps. . . he has made it pretty difficult for himself on teesside, and although we have fought tooth and nail to keep him, the whole saga may be past the point of no return. Lots of people are saying back him to win back the fans after his transfer request, but we have a local derby this weekend against Sunderland, and I think the crowd reaction will have a lot to do with what eventually transpires. . . Nani is a no no for me defo, thfcire is 100% correct. he is a poor mans ronaldo, has all the dives and tantrums but none of the skill. You would soon grow weary of his antics and lack of stomach for the fight.
just my take on it. . .
I think there is more chance of me signing for Spurs than Nani being allowed to leave Man U by Ferguson in January.
tbh, i agree that a) he wouldn't be allowed to leave and b) he's not all that and c) he's a tw4t.
It was only a hypothesis anyway (one which I didn't like the sound of much) & I wanted to see what everyone else thought. Glad to see the consensus is fairly negative.
I'd rather have Downing & I actually don't think Boro have killed this off quite yet because there is a suggestion that, altho Keith Lamb & Steve Gibson are digging their heals in, Gareth Southgate is starting to prefer the idea of having a bit of money to spend sooner rather than later. He'd rather lose Downing, with backup in Johnson, than his other stars and if the player is really unsettled then its best to just get it out the way. If Gareth says so, I'd have thought the board would back Downing's departure.

We really do need a LW really really soon, we can't keep playing out of positioned players. Downing is perfect, he may not be what everyone wants but I am sure as hell know that he would be great once settled into WHL. If really wants to go somewhere with a club, its Tottenham. If we survive this relegation battle.. next season I could see us in 6th position easily.
