I was browsing through the internet looking at the transfer saga news and then seen

in an article about Defoe and Downing that Edgar Davids might purpose a move back on

      a pay per play.

So what do you guys think about this, here is the source.

If it is really only a pay-per-play type thing, might be a nice idea. Bring in him and Appiah - Appiah will make more of an impact on the pitch, definitely, but Davids could probably still do a job if he's fit.
Maybe the two of them could teach some of our wusses some aggression.
"The great fallacy is that the game is first and foremost about winning. It's nothing of the kind. The game is about glory. It's about doing things in style, with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom."

I think this sounds great. He is experienced & will be here, passing on his knowledge & tightening up our midfield. On a pay-as-you-play basis he will be virtually a player/coach I reckon.

      Well spotted btw!

Yes good points , very much a ball winner in his peak ( Davids ) and could well be a promising idea. If only to get the rest of them to grow some bollox , and player/coach is about right basskadet its good to get them whilst they can still do it .

I have always had a sour feelings for davids ever since he refused to go off in that west ham game. All the players had stomach bugs and he outright refused to leave the field. Can't really see much wrong with getting him on pay as you play though but can't see when we would ever play him.

He would be great coming off the bench when we are defending a small lead. He's the sort of guy you want to stop up us conceding leads late on. That way he'll be fresh & able to keep up with the action.

YUP good call again basskadet , we could bring him on as a sub in the second half of matches so we dont end up with the same scenario where he doesn't like being substituted . By the way basskadet when are you due to do your next write up , your last one was great.

not so sure about davids now, isn't he a bit too old for the premiership pace?

glad to hear the legend is returning though to put a shift in to help us out. i think we're regaining some of that spirit we're famous for.

He's 35. Terry Sheringham played in the Premiership till he was 40! You can only do it if you are a quality player but, let's face it, Edgar ain't bad is he!

I don't think he'd ever last the full 90 anymore but, like I said earlier, bring him on for the final 10/15 min, when everyone else is tiring & he is fresh, & he could still do a job I reckon.

Also, he'd be useful in things like UEFA Cup, etc.

I think his value is to show the other DMs how to tackle with some balls.

We could go from having a bunch of pansies in midfield to having a Pitbull & a Tornado!

I agree btw, Luminoir, he is likely to adopt a player/coach role but he will try to play if he only gets commission! In that sense I can only see him coming on toward the end of games, to protect a lead or whatever.

Good shout mate. Is'nt he also a Left Sided player? He has been impressive for NEC Nijmegen this season and played well against us in the UEFA cup.

      (newbie alert)

A few guys saying that Davids' potential return is purely in a coaching capacity. For how long I have no idea.Don't we have enough coaches !?! I would welcome Davids however.
