Swedish international striker Johan Elmander looks the ideal man to partner Dimitar Berbatov up front - and don't rule out bids for Portuguese playmaker Nani and Auxerre defender Younes Kaboul.
Looking at some of Johan Elmander's goals, it is clear why Martin Jol recently expressed interest in Toulouse's Swedish international striker. The 6ft 2in hitman could well prove the ideal partner for Dimitar Berbatov if Spurs are to push forward in both the Premiership and in Europe.

At 25, Elmander looks to be in great shape and I believe his unique style would complement Berbatov’s awareness up front. He is superb in the air, especially from set pieces, and on the ball reminds me somewhat of AC Milan’s Kaka - looking out for potential through balls as well as taking chances around the penalty box.

Spurs have struggled recently to create chances on the counter-attack, apart from great individual play from Berbatov at times. A perfect example of this came against Charlton the other night when a perfect break left Aaron Lennon facing a two-on-one situation . If he had used his pace to his advantage, Spurs would no doubt have increased their goals tally. But he was afraid to shoot and instead of picking out Berbatov or Robbie Keane, the ball somehow found its way back to Paul Robinson in goal.

Elmander is not what I would call a ‘greedy’ player, yet he is not afraid to risk missing a scoring opportunity and is always willing to take a pot at goal. The fact of the matter is, we need another player like Berbatov. Somebody who can spot an opportunity that others can’t, as well as coping with a large amount of pressure.

To me and I’m sure many other fans who have seen him in action, Elmander fits the bill perfectly.

There are, of course, many options available to Jol come summer, especially now that Charlton striker Darren Bent is a healthy option to join the Spurs attack. If Jol were to bring in Elmander, he may well find he has captured another Berbatov for a bargain fee.

Once the striking problem is resolved, Jol will need to focus on the midfield and defensive areas of the squad as we are clearly lacking in these areas. We have pace and skill on the wings with Lennon and Steed Malbranque while in the middle we have Didier Zokora, who is not afraid to travel further up the pitch. I reckon it is time for Spurs to invest in a high-quality playmaker, able to meet the demands of our high-quality hit squad up front.

Arjen Robben could possibly be the man for this job, and the press have linked the Chelsea ace with a summer bid to lure him to White Hart Lane. Either Robben or Sporting Lisbon’s Nani, rated by Christiano Ronaldo as once of Portugal’s brightest talents, could be tempted if Spurs decide to go ahead with a bid this summer.

Defence wise, Spurs are reportedly having talks with Auxerre over France Under-21 giant Younes Kaboul. The 6ft 4in Kaboul is also highly rated and reports claim that Spurs are close to capturing his signature during the close season. In a partnership with young Michael Dawson and Ledley King, this would lead to a basically hard-to-penetrate defence, even for the likes of Arsenal or Manchester United.

Up until a week ago, he was just a pretty face (he's a part-time model I believe).
Reporter: "What is it like to score against the best team in the world [Barcelona]?".
Jake Livermore: "Score against the best team in the world??? I play for them [TOTTENHAM]."

He's been on fire this season &, I must say, I've thought myself how he might just be a good option.

I don't think you can count the previous 2 seasons in the Premier League. For a start, some players seem to take longer to adjust to the English League than others but, now that he seems to have gotten used to it, he is doing very well. I would think that, altho I stress this is only my opinion, Bolton is probably a lot harder to settle in for a foreigner used to life in the South of France than, perhaps, London & the home counties.

Then there is the fact that Bolton, up until this season & a bit at the end of last, played a certain way. It is perhaps reasonable to suggest that this may not have suited Elmander & now that they are playing a more flowing &, dare I say, "Tottenham"-type of football he has been unstoppable at times, particularly Away from the Reebok.

Having said all that, I would always have huge concerns that he could start to struggle at any moment & I the fact it took him 2 seasons to settle would give me massive concerns as to his mentality & whether or not he is strong enough in the mind to succeed at a club like ours

Will we stay or will we go!

I personally believe his good form is more down to his strike partner Kevin Davis imo......

Dont all shoot me down now but i would rather Kevin Davis than...Crouch & Pav!! Davies holds the ball up really well and i would love to see our Midfield players and JD playing off him......

Dont get me wrong im not for one second saying his the answer to our strike force but i think he could be a useful player.......

Saurez & Benzema are priority imo!!!

      i would buy kevin davies.
i would sign him for the rest of his career and bench him so he never plays against us again.
if he played against us every week he would win the golden boot every year messi and ronaldo be damned

If we"d had Kevin Davies the likes of Pav and Defoe would have benefited greatly from his hold up play and accurate knock downs, and for me Suarez is the boy we need .
      Oh ye Elmander er NO
