To really become a top four side, we need to get more defensive depth, add a striker or two (depending on departures) and strengthen the CM/DM and LM positions. They should be our focuses. Why are we spending so much perceived time and effort on Bentley, when we have Lennon who seems to be a hard worker, young, fast, great dribbling, loyal, etc.
I know his crossing is bad but the boy is still very young. I think we do not give our youngsters enough time to flourish here at spurs. Lennon has a lot of talent. From what I've heard, his crossing is already looking a bit improved in the off season anyway.
Also, David Bentley is not worth 17 million pounds in my opinion. I don't think letting Robbo go on the cheaper side will help our efforts anyway. It didn't net us Diarra when we gave Defoe to pompey.
I just believe the money could be better spent, unless we get huge amounts of it.
Your thoughts?

I think we should play with Lennon and save the £17 mil and Lennon has a huge upside the money could be spent on other areas of need I agree
It's quite simple that we need Bentley to be honest. I can't count the amount of times Lennon has failed to produce a good cross/corner or freekick and bentley is very good at all of these. A team always needs someone who can produce a brilliant defense cutting ball or score a few free kicks each season and we don't have one, simple as.
Set pieces are sometimes the only way to score in a tight game against a very defensive side and we need to be able to produce.
Lennon has talent but Bentley has even more and in my eyes it's nothing but a step up. 17M is alot but you can't be a good team without spending big sometimes.
If you can name players in the same position as Bentley who are, cheaper, will come to spurs, younger and can produce as good a cross as him then by all means talk to Ramos.
P.S. It's not like we are strapped for cash.

Lennon has cosistantly underachieved. He fails to exploit his main threat time and time again.
How many times last year did he get one on one with a full back and cut inside and run the full width of the pitch before passing a 5 yard pass to our fullback.
He needs somone to coach him properly or he needs to go to West Ham or Sunderland with the rest of the rejects.
I agree that there are better than Bently for the dough, but he is proven quality at this level and i think we should have snapped him up with a 13 mill offer ontop of the Robbo deal.
Now Robbo has gone for straight cash I think the Bently deal is les likely to happen.
For me Bently IS worth the asking price, the boy is quality and we will lose out big time if we dont stump the extra few million there wanting for the guy.
Lennon is a talent but he just doesnt do it enough for us and im sick and tired of seeing balls smashed into the first defender when he should be whipping the cross into the box!!
F*ck Stratford!!!!

spot on... he doesn't pick out that pass to put the striker through and he can't cross and he can't take free kicks and..and.. and...
every defender in the land knows how to neutralise him in a game.
bentley on the other hand is much more creative and can put a cross on a 50p piece and is great on set pieces.
worth every penny imo and i hope the easy pickings of robbo makes the bentley deal go throughnice and smooth - i'd be a very happy yid
Lennon's biggest problem is that he is a playground football. Remember back at school when you played in the playground. He'll try and run past everybody and refuse to pass. End result is that he;ll try and run past one too many people andd lose the ball. His passing isn't bad, when he does.
He hasn't along as well as people expected, but he can with the right stewardship, which I reckon should be the ones providing it.
As for Bentley, he's not bad, but he doesn't set my world alight.

After reading the posts, I don't think we need Bently. For 17 million, We could get a Dm and a back up striker. Overpriced English players is the norm and Ramos can find a good Dm for the team that is worth 7 - 9 mil and have some left over to a back up striker. I am on two different boards and I have been on this one for a while but I am amzaed that we as fans have completly forgotten that Bent Last summer cost 16 mil to ride the pine .. We won't get that for him if we sell him on so let him play ..
I think we should show a bit more faith in Aaron. The lad has only just turned 21. That's young. While I do agree that this season he should have shown more improvement, I think he definitely warrants another season, or half season to prove himself. I'm sure Rambo will be aware of his crossing abilities and will be working on it now.
We aren't strapped for cash though, that is right, but I really do believe that we desperately need more quality depth to the side if we aren't going to run out of steam, and have more consistent results. To be honest, if it weren't for our strikers in the last couple of seasons, we may have floundered. Now it's time to take a step up and increase squad depth. That is why I think other players should be a higher priority at the moment.
I think we do need Bentley to insure we have very good delivery from both flanks but feel Lennon should be kept as very goos back up or as a late impact sub him and Bent with their pace would be lethal for counter attacking in the final 20-30mins of matches.
i think we should just stick with lennon , sign all our other targets first , then if there is money left then sign him cause he's not a must !
i would like to see bentley at the lane but we can survive without him, if the pricetag was a bit less then 100% yes but we could use that money on something a bit more sencible
Bentley is a must.... he is the proven and better then lennon... simple... now keane has gone i have a feeling Ramos is wanting to play a 4-2-3-1 Formation, if thats the case we need those dangerballs played in.... Lennon just cant do it..... i think we would be stupid to sell him though his, who knows maybe with Bentley and the lane he will pick up his game and prove his worth!

Not another winger/midfielder for God's sake.
And if so, there are far better choices out there than Bentley.
Good Afternoon, according to Sky, Blackburn have just
confirmed they are in talks with us over Bentley move...
