No, unless Modders gets dealt off, which won't happen. Too many players similar to Marin.
Good bit of business at 15 mil, though.

Marko Marin, good player, great talent, but where could we possibly find room for the lad?
The name Marko Marin has been doing the rounds for the last few months in the transfer gossip columns and the young Werder Bremen attacking midfielder has found himself linked with a whole host of clubs including the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal, however it is apparently Harry Redknapp’s Tottenham Hotspur that is the 22 year old most likely destination.
The German press do seem a little bit more reliable than their English counterparts when it comes to transfer gossip on German players and they are linking Marin more and more with a move to White Hart Lane, this despite the fact that Spurs do already appear well served in the midfield area with likes of Modric, Huddlestone, Sandro, Lennon, Bale and others.
Redknapp has already made it clear he intends to bring in fresh players to Tottenham but the general opinion was that it would be the forward line that would see the biggest overhaul, that does not mean however, that Redknapp would necessarily miss the opportunity to sign a young player of Marin’s abilities.
No figure has been mentioned but it is the general opinion that a fee between £15 Million and £20 Million will be enough to secure Marin’s signature.

too many "playmaker" types in this team already. Unless we swapped him for kranjcar, but even then Kranjcar isn't getting a game, so I don't know how Marin would either...
he's also about the same size as modric. this is the EPL. we need more "muscle" in this team. Otherwise we'll continue to struggle against the Stokes, Boltons, Birminghams of the world. Big strong holding type striker up front and a clinical finisher.
I would have seen him more of a Lennon type player with his pace and close control. I wouldn't see him as competition for Luka..

I was just about to say that Luka and Marin aren't in anyway comparable. Marin plays the majority of his football on the wing and damn well. If we can't sign Hulk then he could add a similar dimension to our squad. He's left footed, so if we inverted him and put him on the right he could serve as another attacking option. Also he would serve as cover for 3 positions on the field, both wings and in the hole.
This could be a match made in heaven because Bremen want Niko. So basically do a swap Niko for Marin and a bit of cash.
Something like this will do.

How Bremen played Spurs. Marin played well there I'm sure you'll all agree.
It's basically the same thing I think he could do for us.

Would be a good option, is probably a better fit than Niko for squad purposes because while he does not have the shot of Niko or perhaps the instinct for goal, he would be more able to swap like for like for several players due to his speed and ability from out wide and on the ball.

Marin is right footed and plays as an inverted winger on the left so that he can cut in to shoot (see his goal against us). I would love to bring him in, he's incredibly talented. He can play both in VDV's role and on the wing and IMO has potential to be way better than VDV. Bremen are not having a great season, so i think if he wants out we absolutely need to sign him. I know we have midfielders galore, but IMO he could be amazing in a couple of years.
Edit: just saw that you corrected that he's right footed. i was a little late on that one
I love certain things that come from argentina, one in particular.

Could it be that we are already resigned to losing VDV and see Marin as a nice replacement? I wouldn't be against the addition as we don't really have a pacey player who can step in on either wing when Bale/Lennon are out. I would cry myself to sleep for months though if we spend our striker money on another midfielder.
Well if we have resigned ourselves to losing him, Marko Marin is not the player to fill his role. He's not a central goal scoring midfielder. He's a winger or an inverted winger. It's more likely he'd be cover for Lennon, but even thats a stretch. If he's in the middle he plays more like Modric then VDV as far as i've seen.
He's croatian so i guess Redknapp's gonna buy him![]()
I just pray he isn't a replacement for Modric.
