Anthony Lozano of Olimpia in Honduras has apparently joined us on trial. Carlos Restrepo, the manager of Olimpia, was quoted in the Honduran press saying:
"we can no longer rely on Anthony Lozano. In the coming hours Anthony will be traveling to England to join a club of that country, that's what I was told by the club's directors. I wish him all the best of luck because he is a great player, as he has shown with the club & with Honduras U17. We hope he remains in the team and signs in the footsteps of great players like Wilson Palacos, Maynor Figueroa and Hendry Thomas. I know he will succeed."
The Honduran media are reporting the team to be Tottenham Hotspur.
So, who is Anthony Lozano? I have absolutely no idea! However, the fountain of all knowledge that is Wikipedia states that he is a 17 year old Honduran and plays as a Centre-Forward. He has been described as the "new promise of Honduran football" - altho he has also been compared to Carlos Costly!!!
He made his debut for Olimpia on the 11th January 2009 aged just 15. Wikipedia claims that he has made 6 appearances for Olimpia since then, scoring 6 goals but, in reality, it has been many, many more than that as I was on Olimpia's website & Restrepo (their manager) was saying how he has & was continuing to use Lozano as his main striker. He scored his 1st hat-trick aged just 16 on 21st February in Olimpia's 6-0 victory over Victoria which you can see here:
He has also made 8 recorded appearances for the Honduran U17s, including playing almost every game at South America's recent Sub-20 tournament, scoring an impressive 11 goals.
The only other information I could gather so far is his nickname is "El Choco"!!
Here is Honduras U17 v Germany U17. They lost 1-3 but Lozano scored their goal:

Looks to have fantastic finishing skills for a kid his age. No clue what his all-round play's like though. Great work digging up this much info on him bass.
COME ON YOU SPURS!!!
Aint heard anything about this, one of the guys that works with me has a mate that works as a coach in the academy and is involved in the trials. I'll ask my mate to give him a call and see if he knows anything. As soon as I hear something I'll let you know![]()
Great find Bass, The kid's got a finish on him. I would love for him to be brought up through Tottenham, Can Imagine some pace upfront with him and Giovani. Let's hope it's true.

Honduran reporting here.
Lozano is traveling to Tottenham already signed. Olimpia's president, Rafael Ferrari, announced it today.
"Lozano is not going on trial or on a loan, I sell my players, not lend them and Lozano is already sold", said Ferrari.
Two Hondurans playing for Tottenham, awesome!I would post the link, but my post count doesn't allow me. Go to the Honduran newspaper Diez, and you will see it there.
Sounds interesting... never know what you will get with the young guys but if you don't try you won't get anything.
sorry for the double post, here is the article. translation:
Ferrari: "Lozano is already sold"
Olimpia's president Jose Rafael Ferrari, today confirmed that the juvenile Anthony Lozano is already sold to Tottenham Hotspurs in the Premier League and that nothing else is needed, he just needs to pass his medical tests to stay with the club, in which also militates the Honduran star Wilson Palacios.
"Lozano is not going on trial or on a loan, I sell my players, not lend them and Lozano is already sold", said Ferrari, since there were rumors saying that Lozano was going on a trial.
Ferrari did not disclose the amount by which the transaction was made of Anthony Lozano to the English football. "That I can not say, but I can confirm that the player has already been negotiated. I'm happy because I expect a great future for him. No doubt that this will continue to keep up the name of Honduras and Olimpia" he added.
Rafael Ferrari explained that Tottenham have been interested in Anthony Lozano for several months. "They have been following his tracks since the Under 17 World Cup and the Under-20 qualification games in which he participated. He is a great player and is sure to go very well, now he just has to pass his medical tests," said Ferrari.
The player left the country very early with Osman Madrid, Olimpia's sports manager, his sister and the father of the young 17 year old player.
I talked to a friend of mine who works in the US youth program and he said that Lozano could end up being the best player Honduras has ever produced. The thinking is that he's a couple years away, but that he's the type of player that with expected growth and development, could play for any team in the world. He qualified that by saying that as is the case with every 17-year-old, you're never quite sure how a kid will develop physically and mentally, but he said that he could be the best 17-year-old in CONCACAF.
And with the f.a's stupid home grown rule, lozano would be eligable to be classed as home grown in 3 years time
In a world full of City's and United's...there is only one Hotspur
what happened to signing all the best young players from places as diverse as basingstoke and st albans ?
Nothing about this in the official site tho ??
He will be young enough to become a home grown player.................Well done Levy.
News of the World have a story on it here:
Lozano Flies in to earn his Spurs
"Olimpia insist a deal has already been done to sell the attacker but it's believed that the Premier League club want a closer look at him first."
I beat the press by 24hrs - woohoo!
