Ok no official news about Spurs targeting him but could he be a possibility?
He has expressed he wants to stay in Europe but Barca won't give him playing playing time so could he be a good surprise signing for us?
He could be a target. BUT do you think he could play well for the EPL?
in a word, yes. would bring good experience imo
TOTTENHAM 'TIL I DIE!
Would take him in a second. Class signing and would have a good influence on Gio.
No, I would get too excited. He was good about 3 seasons ago, but has seemed to lose his way a bit recently. I know he was injured last season but the other two seasons he was poor. He can be caught out a bit, he turns like an arctic truck as well. Sorry Javi, I know he's Mexican but I just don't think he has what it takes to improve us and he's hardly getting any younger. Now if Gabi Milito is looking to move from Barca, I would certainly welcome him.
If several reports here in the US are correct, Barca released him from his contract only if he was to sign in MLS and he has agreed to a contract with New York. If true, that ends the Marquez possibility for us.
He's been off form for awhile, i have mates that are barca fans and they haven't said much good about him for awhile. I know the whole form is temporary class is perminent arguement, but there are times when physically a player loses the ability to make up for it.
I do agree with most of your points and I have seen the bad side of Marquez but he left the WC angry and hungry for more I believe hes still got some fight in him and hes a natural leader but I guess we will have to see.
I was thinking Marquez could be a decent signing not too long ago. Barca are clearly willing to let him go & he would bring that experience & "winners" mentality that we need. I also think he would fit into the Premier League very nicely & has a lot of fight still left in him.
However, I believe I heard that he was about to join Henry in the MLS, perhaps even at the Red Bulls also
King and Bongani,
King and Bongani bong!!
(watch out here they come!)
Will we stay or will we go now?
Will we stay or will we go now?
If we go there will be trouble
and if we stay we'll do the double
So Levy has got let us know
Will we stay or will we go!
Rafael, Van Der Vaart
ƒuck Chelsea & Frank Lampard

No thanks, rather have richards
Interesting, Javi.
I still think he has what it takes & I was impressed with him this WC. I know some Barca fans will suggest he is past it but where can he play in that team now? They have Pique & Puyol as CBs & there is no way Marquez will get in that midfield! Yaya Toure barely played either for the same reason. However, I saw Marquez come into the side on a few occasions & I always thought he did OK.
Give him a fresh start, & that responsibility which he seems to thrive on (like he still has with the Mexican team) & I think he could still find his best form again. He's a winner at the end of the day, he hates losing, but he is also a leader & seems to lift those players around him.

After seeing him in the WC it was like a wake up call to me I never in my life saw Marquez play in that midfield position until SA "i know he has played before but only on rare occasions" out of all the team he is the one who left the most angry and before he had stated that he didn't know his future on the Mexican team but now he said " I still want to play I still have alot more" and well I believe him.
Guys I am not suggesting he come to Spurs just because I am a Mexican national I do believe hes got alot left in him and like Bass said a fresh start may just be what he needs and he def could play along side the players that Spurs have to offer hes especially a good influence with younger up and coming players which is something we could use as well.
Rafa got his release from Barcelona and will be introduced by New York Red Bulls on Tuesday so that possibility is officially gone.
