hey all just a simple post and invites your views since obviously we have not much activity to get excited about.
it appears that our signings will come only if we made it through the quali. recent signs are showing Harry do have his target in mind but are fearful of what happen to Leeds years ago. to participate in CL is obviously a pull for players, and if so we might see a bigger pool of players who are more willing to come to us, even if it mean sticking with our strict wage policy.
needless to say, i am disappointed with the lack of activity during this window but a careful thought reveal an even bigger picture

Leeds went and bought a lot of players on high wages. I don't think its too much to expect us to sign a special striker whether we make the groups or not and it wouldn't ruin us like it did Leeds. We have a good squad but lack that firepower up front like we had in the Berba days.
We'll need a top class striker to stay in the top four this year so I would be disappointed if we were waiting to make the signing that we need.
The upside is arsenal is ripe for the picking, we could steal there spot this year. If we did that we could deal a good blow to there finances. we finished what? 5 points behind them. If our star striker got us those 5 points that it would be enough for me. 75 points tends to be a good number for a 3-4 place finish.
I like the way you think, It would be a great to finish above Arsenal. People are so focused on the champions league, I think we need to concentrate on what should be the immediate goal, winning the league. If we build our squad with the intention of winning the league we will perform just fine in the champions league.
and considering it would have been only 2pts if we had not lost to burnley in the last game...so it would be a class strike to cover that 2pts for us![]()
I think we should go for Asamoah Gyan or Miroslav Klose for extra firepower in PL and CL. They would be available now, would'nt break the bank and they know how to score goals.
Black Russian I know u would live to have gyan here at the lane but it ain't going to happen. Talented player gyan but he would be over valued after the WC
End of the day day, Gyan and Klose are average at best for their clubs, in weaker leagues than EPL.
Super Harry Redknapp,
He wears a magic hat,
He couldn't fly to Anfield
So turned into a cat!
I've always wondered about klose. He's a god for germany, but doesn't do it at club level. It's not like his goals for his country only come against weaker teams either. He just never seems to have the fire in him to do it for club.
If we got him cheap, like really cheap mind you, no more then 5mil, i'd like to have him. It would be a risk, but if he proformed to his level for country, he's a world beater.
It'll never happen though. More of a pipe dream in the end. But what if?
TBH - we have a really strong squad. We drew against Sporting Portugal with some bench players starting. That's quite an achievement. Secondly, that Spurs team DID NOT lose a game. Worringly though, we failed to keep a clean sheet?
Well we did play 4 RBs in our back four for all of the preseason games. We also only had 3 starters who played in every game, Corluka, Huddlestone, and Bale.
One concern i saw from preseason was that we don't have any young center backs, nobody from the academy. We lack any centerbacks under the age of 23, at least i think thats bassong's age. Not a huge concern right now but worrying for the future.
How many hurdles do we want to give ourselfs before we can actually improve the squad and sign some friggin players ffs, a pointless trip to America to play a bunch of amatures so no chance of getting any deals done, wage cap on players and now only if we qualify for the CL propper just get on with it Spurs so we have a settled squad!
