I am starting to doubt whether any new signings will come to the Lane at his rate. We have been linked with so many names but yet we haven't heard any 'x is close to a move to spurs' or 'y is having a medical at spurs'. It's just continuing gossip, if we don't sign someone before the 1st August I will be so pissed off. In terms of who we should sign I believe a 'special' signing is needed. Suarez, Falcao, Cordozo etc. Someone along those lines would be very exciting, being linked with Craig Bellamy is about as exciting as going to Germany on holiday. My patience is starting to run out...
I reckon 'Arry is waiting for the market to cool down. No-one just pays 20-30 mil straight out on the first offer. Man City are a big factor now in all transfers, so prices will be silly. Come near August everyone is gonna scramble to get the deal. Arry is not a checkbook manager. He has the wage structure to think about as well. I see him definatley getting a centerback and a proven goalscorer
i think we will have a busy week at the end of the window and that is what i was hoping to avoid. id rather we got our men early and get em used to the rest of the squad, also im a bit scared that harry will panic buy with a day of the window left and we end up with 20 + mill wiorth of shite
also i can pretty much see us lumbered with jenas and keane ffs
Agree with Funkfish, Harry is letting the market cool down, keeping our real targets under the radar. When Man Citeh have finishing buying the world and his wife we'll come in and get our targets nearer the end.
I think the problem is this... we already have really good players. Since there is no point in bringing in someone who isn't better than what we have, we will need to spend a lot of money which we have historically been reluctant to do. So something has to give unless Harry somehow finds a steal of a deal.
i understand the anxiety concerning the lack of signings, the problem is that there is a dirth of real, available talent, & any player with a whiff of talent or a good goalscoring record has his priced hiked to an unrealistic price & wages,(thanks to man city for that!), i do believe we will sign players & sell players, wouldn't surprise me that when milner leaves villa for man city that's when the transfer merry-go-round will begin

You know, its almost like you read my mind. I am getting worried about the situation and my confidence in harry is dropping a little, although it couldnt really get any higher after last season. I would love to see Falcao at the lane, and I think he is a reasonable target. Porto have had a reputation of letting their best players leave so why dont we make the most of it? I also agree with Suarez and Cardozo, both are very good players who score for fun!
also, I was reading all about how Luis Fabiano would seriously consider coming to us, yet I dont see any interest from Harry, other than a little statement saying he admires him.
Why do we always go for average players? Okay, Bellamy is a reasonably good player, but if he isnt going to make it into the new man city team, why would we want him when we are one step ahead of them at the moment?
Harry needs to pull his finger out and go for some of the great players we are constantly being linked with. At some point you are going to have to tip the wage budget a bit higher as we progress up the league, it is no excuse.
unfortunately being linked with players in the various forms of the media & what is actually happening behind the scenes is usually quite wide of the mark, i would imagine signing a player like suarez is a very long winded & protracted process, levy & redknapp are very canny & savvy operators in the transfer market, rest assured they will do what is best for spurs, on the field & off it as well
i think we just need abit of patience. harry will be looking at all our friendly games in depth and see were he could improve the squad. I want signing as well but no point signing the first available player at a well over priced fee

Harry: Spurs board must loosen the purse strings and not waste this chance

Harry Redknapp wants the Tottenham board to back his bid for glory - and not waste a golden opportunity to catapult the club into the elite.
After qualifying for the Champions League play-offs last season, expectations have risen at White Hart Lane.
And Redknapp is doing nothing to dampen them - claiming the north Londoners are ready to pull off another shock by winning the Premier League title.
He has been given a reported £40m to spend, but chairman Daniel Levy has made it clear he will not break his pay structure.
The Tottenham boss has identified three world-class players - but admits wages could be a stumbling block.
He said: “I think we need to bring in three real quality players that can push us on.
“This is a chance that Tottenham really shouldn’t waste. We have got ourselves into our best position since the Premier League first started, and we have to build on that.
“We now have to move forward and not take a step back and sit and look at what we’ve done.
“I feel it’s a great chance.
“This is a massive opportunity and we have got to grab it, to make sure we stay where we are.
“We have got to keep improving if we are going to stay there.
“I’m not saying that we necessarily need to spend fortunes, but we have to go and get two or three players who will make the difference to us.
“I have got three players in mind and if I can get these players we would be a different team.”
Targets are believed to be Brazil striker Luis Fabiano, Spanish star Raul, Milan’s Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Manchester City’s Craig Bellamy and Croatian goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa.
He said: “I like Fabiano. He is a top player. If he was available at the right money then I would be interested in him, but whether that would be the right money for Tottenham Hotspur I don’t know.
“We won’t compete wage-wise with Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool.”
He’s still upset that Liverpool beat him to the signing of Joe Cole, a player he had mentored at West Ham.
Redknapp said: “A month ago when we first met with Joe he was dead keen to come to Tottenham and maybe it needed to be done before he had a chance to go and talk to anybody else.
“He wouldn’t do anything before the World Cup. In the end Daniel made him a really good offer, but I think by then he had made up his mind that he fancied going to Liverpool.
“He has got mates at Liverpool – Glen Johnson, Steven Gerrard – and in the end I think he thought moving out of London might be good for him.
“We want to get through the Champions League, to have a run in that. That’s a far cry from when I first came here and the priority was staying in the league.
“The players now believe in themselves.
“I got them playing in the right positions.
“There was no magic formula really. I gave them a bit of confidence and picked the right players and I got the right blend.”

feel the same as most lots of names floating around but nothing happening but like its been said who knows whats going on beind closed doors
According to the News of the World...Premiership Teams need to register their 25 player squad in 20 days time. Expect activity in the coming weeks.
If thats true it makes very little sense. Why would you have to declare a squad before the transfer window closes. Effectively it would cut 2 weeks or so off the transfer window. I find it hard to believe that the FA is that dumb.
It's annoying looking at man citys page on ssn and seeing them sign and being linked with so many top players and than I look at spurs and i see raul wtf! if we dont sign anyone im gonna be pissed... we are the team in the champions league not the crappy mancs, money talks =(
"We have got a big squad, but having one or two new faces freshens everything up, and gives you a little push - and I think we need to do that. I do not think you have to spend big money in our situation. There are one or two players out there, whether it be loans or free transfers." - HR
Can't wait until September 1st, when this transfer window is closed...
