Very exciting news just in from ssn, he thinks we could even push for the title! Less talk more action though!! Lets sign some quality players and win the title! coys. Who are going to be the 2 or 3 players?
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is looking to further bolster his squad ahead of the new season.
Spurs' last campaign saw them secure fourth place in the top flight, marking their highest ever Premier League finish and a result Redknappfeels the team can build on this season.
And the White Hart Lane manager believes the way to do that is to bring in several fresh faces.
"We need two or three players who can make the difference," said Redknapp.
"We've got a big squad, but I do feel we need just that little bit of quality in one or two areas if we're going to move on from where we were last year."
Possible
Redknapp has not ruled out Tottenham securing a top flight title, insisting the London club are better equipped to lift the trophy than they have been for years.
"We did great last year, but we just need to push on and maintain that," he added. "We want to win the championship. It's not impossible.
"Fourth place last year was marvellous, but I think this is the best chance Tottenham have had in how many years to really push on and maintain that, and become a regular top four team and maybe push for a championship.
"We're never going to get a better chance so now's the time to have a go at doing that. So I still feel with two or three players it would make the difference and give us the squad we need. And if we get them in I think the sky's the limit for us."
Arry sounded very positive in this interview but I cant help thinking he"s now having to go plan B or even C,D,E,F after putting so much effort into JC , and not sure Arry"s comments were suitable considering JC shat on him, I"d like to think he knows his intended targets but it could be he"s struggling to attract the right players to come, I hope Im wrong though.
Redknapps plan B, C, D, E and F are still very good plans![]()
I'm very optimistic about the up and coming season but winning the league mmmm Harry you sure lol
Hearing that made me feel a bit sick! Imagine us even coming close to challenging the title!
Luis Suarez has GOT to be one of the 2 or 3! Lets hope this week is when we start hearing news, this might be what prompted such a positive interview. I just wish he wasn't so vocal about signings and it was back in the "old" days where we would pull a signing out of our arses!
Luis Suarez, Taye Taiwo and a centre back would make me a very, very happy man!
Super Harry Redknapp,
He wears a magic hat,
He couldn't fly to Anfield
So turned into a cat!
I don't have a problem with Harry talking about transfers at all, I wish more managers did it tbh. It certainly stops all the nonsense reporting in the press anyway.
I know Harry perhaps took talking about targets too far a little while back but, to be fair, he was never as bad as many people - particularly on the continent where their ability to drag 3rd parties into things is incredible!! Harry, in my opinion, has been reasonably good & respectful more recently in this sense & I don't think he over steps the line at all whilst, at the same time, managing to keep people like me informed of what the club are doing.
He also seems to be doing it in a way that does not weaken our position. We only really know about Suarez, for example, because Ajax shouted about it last January. Harry did say he "liked the player", but then he practically says that about everyone, especially if they're actually good players!
If I'm honest, I would want him to talk up us going for the title. He's been brilliant for me in this respect. He states how we have the ability, the opportunity and that it is our aim but he stops short of talking us up too much, which has been a problem before.
I was watching old post-match interviews from last season & was rolling on the floor with my sides splitting listening to first Rafa, then Mancini "promise" they would get 4th!!! Harry (&our players too as time went on) was always respectful of our rivals & recognised that we "had as good a chance as anyone" which, in my opinion, was exactly the right thing to say.
Looking at what happened last season I totally agree with Harry that we have a chance to go for a title. It might not be this year, & he never says that, but if we can keep a top 4 spot, such a challenge could well happen soon.
What I'm so excited by is our progression, in a very short space of time, compared to the decline of those above us. I'm not deluded enough to think that we are as good as Manchester United, but I also recognise that the only players they've bought this summer are Hernandez & Smalling - certainly no 'superstars' yet - & the likes of Giggs, Scholes & Neville (rumours abound that he may even retire this summer to be a pundit for Sky Sports) aren't getting any younger. As good as United are, they still rely on those guys an awful lot when things aren't quite going to plan. Rooney is a BIG difference, but if we could get ourselves that sort of player, one who can carry us on his own if needs be, then looking thru United's squad, are they really that much better footballers? As we've discussed elsewhere, the big difference is in the mentality but we are going the right way in changing that.
Its good, positive interview with Harry but he isn't really saying anything new or that I would not expect. I was thinking the other day too about Fabiano. I thought his comments were interesting. It might just have been that cynical point of view of that nobody else had come in for him but that does not make sense to me. If it had gone on for several weeks, maybe, but if Fabiano was for sale, of course a'big' club would come in for him sooner or later.
I think his change in attitude was perhaps more to do with the fact that he had actually spoken with us & we had laid out our ambitions to him - & something must've impressed him. It might just have been our new stadium, or even training centre, but it could also have been some of the other targets he could have potentially found himself playing alongside. Its just a theory, but something made him specifically call us "ambitious"
King and Bongani,
King and Bongani bong!!
(watch out here they come!)
Will we stay or will we go now?
Will we stay or will we go now?
If we go there will be trouble
and if we stay we'll do the double
So Levy has got let us know
Will we stay or will we go!
Rafael, Van Der Vaart
ƒuck Chelsea & Frank Lampard
with a nick-nack paddywhack he'll be getting goals
when Lampard's too fat & old
COYSAFOYS
It would be a dream to win the league but Chelsea, Man U and Citeh look really good. Citeh on paper would be title contenders when you add Silva, Toure and possibly Dzeko/Balotelli on paper you have enough to challenge anyone. I hate to say it but it's going to be a struggle IMO just to retain 4th, especially with the apparent lack of signings this transfer window. Next year I think we will be in a race with Arsenal, Liverpool and Villa for position, all of them have improved while we haven't....
I hope we can do it, i'm cautiously optimistic.
I like him talking about signings, pushes the starters to perform even harder.
Sounds to me like he was trying to make a declaration of intent. To show that we is more ambitious, as both a club and a manager. After the Joe Cole debacle i think it's needed.
it's not as if he's out banging on about us being title favorites. I don't know about this particular statement, but usually these quotes come from direct questions like: "Harry, you think Spurs can win the title?" What's he supposed to say? But the stories never mention the question he was responding to, which provides the context for his answer.
I agree about the signings, but it's not n Harry's nature to get them done this early. He'd break into a cold sweat if he didn't have any business to do on August 31. That said, I think we'll probably hear some news when they get back to London.
wow brilliant if we could get suarez i believe he is a world class striker, and maybe a good midfielder and another centre back and we will be unplayable, we need a good deal though, someone maybe who had a weird year but is still really good and can become better
honestly scott parker would be nice
a random italian defender would be nice
TBH I never "really" thought cole would come to us anyways, it took him so long to choose, and he wants alot of first team football, where he wouldnt get at spurs, and would get every game at liverpool. I think harry was winding the media up, and making it sound like he really wanted joe cole, so when we didnt sign him, it would sound like he would have to go for someone less good. But I think this is what harry is good at, manipulating the media IMO.
I dont think we are going to sign that "quality player" everyone is hoping for. Maybe an emerging star, that not is not a big name, but soon will. Suarez is now a big name, but if we do get a player of his quality and a proper left wing?(bellamy!) THEN we can start talking serious about the league. But for now, i wont aim for the league lol, not yet..
But i'd like to see a deal done very soon, rather than waiting for the last bit of the window, and get him cheap.
Its time for action now. We do need a few players and they need to be quality 1st team players.
Suarez, Bellamy, Richards, Taiwo.
Tottenham Hotspur - A Life Long Labour of Love.
then stop paying wasters like jenas 40k p/w and use that money on top of the 60k p/w wage cap to attract the likes of suarez, taiwo and ozil to WHL ffs!!!
