Spurs Chase Blackburn Defender Phil Jones

HARRY REDKNAPP is set to make a move to take Blackburn defender Phil Jones to Tottenham.
The Spurs boss missed out on long-term target Micah Richards and has set his sights on 18-year-old Jones.
His performances towards the end of last season caught the attention of several leading clubs, including Arsenal and Liverpool.
Rovers boss Sam Allardyce is confident he can hang on to Jones in the short term with the promise of regular first-team football.
But Spurs could test the water with a bid and may be willing to loan the England Under-19 player to Blackburn for the rest of next season. Meanwhile, Pascal Chimbonda, Jason Roberts and Zurab Khizanishvili could be on their way as Allardyce tries to raise cash.
Midfielder Andranik Teymourian and striker Rodrigo Branco have been given extended trials at Ewod Park.

I know for a fact we've bid £7m for him. Don't know if it's been accepted or rejected but an offer's been made. Lots of other clubs are interested though. Fingers crossed we get him, looks quality.

I just dont see the point of signing these young players of potential such as Wickham and now Jones when all we do is loan them out and then sell them on again later, its happening too many times.

eg Chris Gunter, loaned and then sold...KPB, loaned and then sold (and then does well for Pompey and Ghana)...a pattern is emerging here

Its a riskygame sometimes its great other times its frustrating. Thud Lennon and Defoe were the success stories out of it.
How good is this kid iv never seen him play, i usually try to avoid blackburn games if i can. The thing about this transfer is that who is to say that if Caulker was at B'burn he might of picked up a few games and looked really good then we would wanna sign him. Is he going to be a great player or is it a risky one?

Just over a month left until that ITK thread is up and running

this one will do for now

Word reaches The Goat that Phil Jones is not a happy bunny at Rovers. Seems his netto is incredibly thin.

But this is not just down to money.

He was in the provisional England squad for last week, but when it came to to the final one, he was overlooked for Chris Smalling. He wasn't happy about this, citing the fact that Smalling is not a regular for Utd and he is for Blackburn and put it down to the fact that it is favouring the big club players.

I've heard that he's had meetings with Chelsea, United and Spurs. That is all.

We'll have to wait and see if it goes any further.
