Any one got one of these, im looking toget the 16 gb 3gs version in the next week so just wondered if anyone had suffered any problems with it?
Had a play with the phone in an 02 shop today and was very impressed with it so failing any common probs il be having one of the mothers![]()
Got it for a couple of months now, and im very happy with it. Bloodrain has an awsom jailbraik software that is simmple as a pie, and there are a lot of games and programs on torrents. If you have the need for iphone functions, and can depart from 500 euros, i say go for it. Best product on the market for that price. HTC can suck my balls
i smashed the screen on mine :L
Forgot to mention the only down side of iphone. The camera has no flash, and its a very annoing thing
I want one or a blackberry when i sort my money out ill get one on contract sort free internet out me thinks :P
It has it's problems, but then what phone doesn't?
It's the best phone going. Got mine 2 months ago and no regrets, a hand-held computer that has an app for everything. It's only down-side is the camera. It's only 2 or 3 mega pixel and doesn't have the features other camera-phones have. If that's the least of your worries then I'd definitely recommend buying one.

Mate of mine thinks its an office in your hand , so i said prove it . He did . Its the bollox once you can master the bits and pieces , if you want to know the model he has i can ask !!!!!
Thanks for the input lads i think im sold on it to be honset but the camera side of it does worry me a tad as im always taking snaps.

I've the the 16gb 3gs. Had it since October and love the thing. Bought the phone straight from apple and then put my simplicity sim in it, i get 500 mins, 600 texts and unlimited internet for 20£ a month (on a month to month contract so can cancel at any time.) A few things though.
1) The battery life is very short, you'll run it down every 2 days, if you play alot of games and use alot of apps you'll need to charge it daily. I have a cheap phone i take with me on long journeys/ weekends away and the like to make sure i can keep in touch with the world when the iphone inevitably dies.
2) Its a widespread problem in the 3gs that when you sync it to the computer many of the apps will stop working (they will just shut down on opening.) Its not a big deal to fix, all you have to do is delete one app and then redownload it and then they all start working again, i just have a small one (ipint) on there for this reason. A little bit irritating but nothing more. I've read somewhere it has something to do with the permissions being switched to "no" but when you download another app it just switches them back to "yes", not sure if thats true, just what i've heard. Apple have said they will try and fix it in a future software update.
3) There is now a few iphone viruses (someone released the codes after designing a virus that just rickrolled you and now there are tonnes of malicious ones). I've not had one but i know someone that has and they trashed the phone to the point where it dosn't work, apple wont fix it because they say the virus was there from when he jailbroke it. Just advising be careful when using non-apple certified software as you never know.
4) Camera is not as good as you would hope on a 450£ phone but i guess you can't have everything in life. Other people have mentioned this anyway.
Despite its few flaws its by far the best phone i've ever owned, after owning it for a while and learning all the tricks you almost become dependant on it because its so useful.
Eighteen, whats the name of the app btw, anything that makes the cam better has got to be a good thing!
A few of the apps i've found to be useful are:
Sky sports football scores (free)
Sky news/ BBC News updater (free)
Yell.com (free)
Ebay (free)
Around me (free)
thetrainline (free) (much better then the national rail app, i use trains alot and have found this one best)
Ping (64p) (lets you talk free with other iphone users anywhere on the planet)
Tube map (free)
Wikipanion (free) (great for settling arguments)
Google Speaker (free) (just say what you want to search)
There's loads of great free games out there to if that's what you're into, great for wasting time or making journeys pass quicker. geodefense, maxinjury and crush the castle are all pretty good and last for ages. Most games have a small free version and the full version which is quite useful.

Thanks so much for that heads up mate i did think the battery wouldnt be too great with all the gizmo's on it.
A mate told me today that if you receive a txt say a funny one or a pic you cant forward it on is this true?
Whats the general usage like as i dont want toget it if the basics like making a call and texting are night mare?
Cheers
I've actually been quite impressed with the text function, it displays it as a conversation with all the previous interactions between you and the recipient listed above in speech bubbles. You're friend is correct that you can't forward, but you can copy and paste anything with a double tap, meaning its just as easy to forward things. Also makes sending numbers to people, web pages, pictures and all that sort of stuff very easy.
The keyboard does take quite a bit of getting used to, especially if this is your first touch screen phone (like it was mine). Obviously you can't "feel" for the buttons so you have to look as you type alot of the time. If you have bigger hands like me then you'll find that you'll have to rotate the phone to type so that you get the bigger keys as the regular ones can be close together and small. I did find a good keyboard app that does make it alot easier to type on though if this is a serious problem. Also you can just switch it back to a normal phone keypad which makes alot more space for keys. The auto-correct feature is amazing, most of the time it knows what you are typing before you have finished making typing very quick when you get used to it as it completes half finished words for you.
Calling is pretty standard, nothing stand out here but its not something that needs to be jazzed up. The iphone has a speech recognition feature so you can just say "call x" and it will do if you can't be bothered to go through the phone book (you just need to hold down the home button to activate it.) One thing is that you can only call from the phone book, so if someone texts you and you want to call them you have to leave what you are doing and go to the phone book. My girlfriend says that my voice can be quite quiet during calls due to the microphone not being to good, but i find simply speaking up or using the headphone with built in mic provided solve this problem.
One last thing, the charging cable you get with the iphone is very short, 3 ft max, meaning it struggles to sit on my desk when charging, nothing drastic just a pain.
All these things are just nit-picking and as a package the iphone is hard to beat, plus with all the apps that are available (most of which free) it can do almost anything you want.
Nice one lads I am looking at an upgrade for me and the wife now.
Any good deals out there.
Voda and Orange aint on it till Jan so O2 is currently the only option I think.
Yep, O2 are currently the only ones who can distribute e.c.t. I think you'd b lucky to get a deal though, there's going to be a high demand around Christmas. Were you interested in going on contract or pay as you go, also do you want to buy her the latest version or are you happier with one of the older versions?
