Hi guys, I asked @RiverWire about this a while back and he said it would be fine, if this is not the case now or in the wrong section I apologise!
I will try to keep the story short!
I shall be running the Bath Half Marathon in March in support for Guide Dogs. My girlfriends Dad has had nystagmus since birth, which affects his ability to see, and is not far off from being considered as blind. As his condition worsened with age, it became more and more difficult for him get around every day life, and he was recommended to put in for obtaining a Guide Dog, which he received after a rigorous waiting & match-making programme. Having seen how much the dog has changed his life, and given him the confidence to go about his daily activities, I decided to enter the Great South Run back in October, whereby I manage to raise £301 (from a required total of £150) in support for Guide Dogs. Having seen that Guide Dogs will be the main/featured charity for the Bath Half Marathon, I have decided to run in that as well.
I consider running to be one of my hobbies, so it's not all doom and gloom for me!Though I thought I could do something beneficial with it at the same time.
If anyone fancies sparing even the slightest amount in support for this, I would be very grateful. I know times are still difficult in the world, and I wouldn't be asking for money if I didn't think it was worthwhile.
If you do feel like donating, please go to Luke Russell is fundraising for The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association
For those that have never used JustGiving before, they automatically send any money to the charity - I don't get to see any of it. So don't think I'll be running off to Monaco with any of it to a bank account I'll speak no more of!
If you ever any questions feel free to ask.

What sort of training schedule you working with?

Thanks @contrast
Not much ATM. I suffered suspected muscle damage in both legs about 18 months ago, and went through some physio back in September & October. I had to do the GSR with a leg support cast and painkillers, which I've been told not to rely on! I'd only previously done ~6 miles training. The first 6 or so miles were fine but the last 4 were killer!
I've received better physio since and have been given some exercises to improve my muscles around my hips which will hopefully strengthen the legs. For the moment I'm just doing some distance running and endurance work in the pool and on the bikes. As long as I can keep that up and do a 13mile run before the event I'm confident I should be able to cope fine!

Good luck, What kind of time are you trying to run?

I did the GSR in ~ 1hr 41min. I did that with 2 dodgy knees and only 1-2 weeks training. For this I'd love to do anything under 2 hours, and then try and break any times the following year. Ultimately I'd like to do the London Marathon for a charity in relation to my Nan's death, so just breaking the lesser runs in for the mo!

Nice nice, if i ever move up to the marathon I would love to run London, but for now I'm just going to stick with 3ks and 8ks.
