Welcome to the 2011/12 THTV Barclays Premier League Predictor Competition!
Although this forum already has a Tottenham Prediction league, and there was also a Champions League Prediction Competition last season, we don't really seem to have a proper Premer League Predictor Competition, so I decided to start one up myself and see how popular it gets. I really hope it catches on with you guys.
Basically, what you have to do is predict every result of the coming English Premier League Matchday. All 380 fixtures of the 2011/12 Barclays Premier League season will be used. I will post up a fixture list of the upcooming matchday 3 days before they start, which should be enough time for everyone to get their predictions in before the weekend's kick offs.
This competition is open to EVERYONE. You can join in when you want, even in the middle of the season. It also doesn't matter if you miss or skip the occasional round. You will see why in the rules explanation below.
Here are the rules:
1) Wrong prediction = 0 points
2) Wrong prediction but one side correct = 1 point
3) Correct prediction = 3 points
4) Correct prediction and correct goal difference = 4 points
5) Correct prediction and correct scoreline = 6 points
6) You can also use one Joker every round. Put the joker beside the prediction you are most confident about.
- If your joker prediction is correct, you get an extra 2 points
- If your joker prediction is correct with the correct goal difference, you get an extra 3 points
- If your joker prediction is correct with the correct score line, you get an extra 4 points
Thus, each game is worth a maximum of 6 points, with the joker prediction worth a grand total of 10 points.
Note - no predictions will be accepted after the first game kicks off - they will be invalid.
Note - no predictions should be edited after the first game kicks off - they will be invalid.
At the end of the week, an "average" will be worked out. This helps if you have missed a week for any reason, or if you have joined in late, because it assures that you won't fall too far behind the leaders.
In order to be eligible to win the competition, you must participate in at least 35% of all the rounds. This is to ensure that no one joins in during the last couple of weeks of the season and gets a high average and wins the competition at the expense of all the other competitors who had been predicting throughout the season.
I will calculate everyone's scores and post them as quickly as I possibly can after a matchday finishes.
I'll be back on this thread on Wednesday to post the opening round's fixtures.
Join in and good luck!
Regards,
The one and only Cmonyouspurs.

where do i sign up?
You could just use one of the i know the score programs. The one on the talksport site does private mini leagues and u sign up like fantasy footy and it automatically does ur points etc. Makes it well easier if a fw peeps will be involved. The premier league website also does i know the score usually.
I don't like the scoring system that IKTS uses. Makes it tough for someone to play catch-up if they miss out on a round or something. I've done Predictor competitions like this before and calculating the scores isn't difficult and can hardly be classified as a chore, so I'm more than happy to do it. Cheers for the suggestion tho mate. Hope to see you participating![]()
COME ON YOU SPURS!!!
Count me in. Like the scoring system too, great idea.
Ok, here are this weekend's fixtures, provided they go ahead. If there are any postponements, I'll figure out something to catch up during the season. Just predict the final scores of each game, no need to predict goalscorers or any of that stuff. If, at any point, you decide to edit your predictions, leave a new post saying that you did, just in case I don't see them:
Blackburn - Wolves
Fulham - Aston Villa
Liverpool - Sunderland
QPR - Bolton
Tottenham - Everton
Wigan - Norwich
Newcastle - Arsenal
Stoke - Chelsea
West Brom - Man Utd
Man City - Swansea
COME ON YOU SPURS!!!
Blackburn 1-0 Wolves
Fulham 1-1 Aston Villa
Liverpool 2-1 Sunderland
QPR 2-3 Bolton
Tottenham 1-0 Everton
Wigan 1-1 Norwich
Newcastle 1-2 Arsenal
Stoke 0-3 Chelsea
West Brom 0-3 Man Utd
Man City 2-0 Swansea ----- Joker
just thinking my opinion, if there are postponements just dont count these as our scores and when they are replayed (most likely mid-week) just post them up as a whole new fixture list?
From experience having run these things before, I can tell you that these things generally even themselves out over a season. Those matches that do go through will be calculated. As for the possibly postponed ones, I'll just ignore the predictions for now, and then ask everyone to predict them again when the time comes and they are replayed.
COME ON YOU SPURS!!!
