Has anyone on here been here on holiday. Am meant to be going to Dubrovnik for a bit if I dont go South Africa. Whats it like fr booze, sorts, things to do etc
Im sure u will get plenty of replies on ere mate, just wait till 2mora......
"Modric could play in any team in the world in my opinion, he's a fantastic footballer, top, top class."
Dubrovnik is nice, but it is for old people..no beaches no places to go out..beautiful Fortress and that kind stuff
I've been to Trogir and Split - both of which are beautiful. But, if you're looking for a 'booze, clubs and birds' sort of holiday, I wouldn't have thought that Croatia is the place for you.
It's unspoilt and peaceful. Personally, I'm not aware of too many loud, party resorts, although I'm sure the Croatian guys on here will know more than I do.
One of the things I loved most about the place was the fact that I didn't come across that many Brits. You really felt like you were abroad.
5 replies and only one Croat, come on lads help the yid out
As BrumSpur said (post 5) - it's not a destination us Brits would first think of...
There may be Visa implications?
If you want to party, visit: Aquarius Zr?e
this place is called Croatian Ibiza beacouse of wild parties, that one is the most famous, but enywhere in Croatia you can find a lots of parties, and you'll have fun everywhere...
My favorite place on Croatian adriatic sea is island "Rab", check for photos and info...

there isn't for uk passport holders for less than 90 days
Croatia Guide: Do you need a visa to visit Croatia?, Nationalities with visa exemptions: Whether or not you
Trogir and Vodice are the places where i have been and that are the places you are looking for for partying and every mayor city on our coast of course...and like the guy above said Zrće...
2 most known beers are Ožujsko and Karlovačko if you'r looking for a domestic beer...or you can drink juice..thats find too...
you can party everywhere here, it don't need to be a big place to have fun...just buy lots of beer and everything is great...
someone here will tell you more, but most important thing i wanted to say to you are the beers...![]()
Dubrovnik is a seriously beautiful city. I've been going to Croatia for years, ever since I was a kid & it was still part of Yugoslavia, & I absolutely love it there. It does help, I suppose, that I know quite a few people over there, many I consider family, but there is just something very special about the Dalmatian coast to.
It is a lot of fun too. Throughout the summer virtually all the youth in Croatia travel down onto the coast & there is loads going on.
What I would suggest, depending on how much time you have, is start further up the coast & travel down it, island hopping, before finishing in Dubrovnik. The little islands & beauty spots are simply amazing, the Med is clear & blue, & it just seems to get better as you go South, finishing in Dubrovnik which, in my opinion, is 1 of the most stunning cities in Europe.
Hvar is probably the best known island, not far from Split, but I think that is too far North if you are going to be around Dubrovnik. Up near Hvar friends of my family own their own resort on a small Island, Sv Klement, & it has a great restaurant & bar, Dagmar (the lady who owns it), is the best host ever too. I gave the details to someone else on here a while ago in another thread, so I'll see if I can find it & post a link
Instead, make sure you head out to the island of Lastovo. Its beautiful, is covered in olive groves and has an abundance of very old churches. Mljet, the closest Adriatic Island to Dubrovnik, is also stunning, lush & green with a nice, fresh water lake. Even if you only have time to make it over to Mljet I would recommend it just to get a glimpse of the Dalmatian archipelago experience.
If you have a bit more time, the Island directly North of Lastovo is called Korcula & it is interesting because that was where Marco Polo was from. Many think he was Venetian but in those days all these Islands were part of the Venetian empire.
There is a massive Jazz festival once a year in Dubrovnik also which is great fun which lasts from early July right thru to the end of August. Its not a mad festival in the sense us Brits are used to, much more a collection of jazz events, concerts, etc & the city is buzzing when it is on. Here's a link which says everything they have going on - Dubrovnik Festival
If you have any questions or want to know about any place in particular then please ask as I have been virtually everywhere down the Dalmatian coast, my family actually lived on a boat down there for a short while, so I might be able to help!
Have a great time tho, Croatia is a beautiful country.
Most bars in the summer stay open very late & whilst it is nothing remotely like club med, nobody shuns a good drink around these parts & I tend to end most evening absolutely paralytic. The difference being that I've had a good drink whilst eating beautiful, fresh seafood, sitting in a bar with a few locals & singing mad folk songs that I do not understand. They know how to have good time, trust me, & the best bit is, when you wake up the next day, you just head straight to the sea & the Adriatic will cure any hangover!
Rab is up in the North tho, completely the other end of coast from Dubrovnik! I guess it all depends on how long he is going for but he would have to be there for 3 weeks minimum to get that far North, & that would mean not much chilling out time!
There is another Island I have not yet mentioned, it might be a bit too far North (it is near Hvar) but if you do go round there I thoroughly recommend it as it is of the beaten track. It is a tiny Island just off of another Island called Vis, the most western of the Adriatic Islands, & it has these amazing caves that glow blue at a particular time of day. You can only get to them by sea tho, so it massively depends on how you plan to get around & how much time you have but, should you find a way out there, do it. They are amazing & virtually nobody goes there.
