Id like to see us try something different. At the moment i very much doubt we will try a new formation as the whole pre season was spent playing the 442 or 4411. But with Bentley and Jenas moving on do we have another viable option for right mid if Lennon gets injured or carries on with his poor form. Also what happened to Dos Santos today?? It was suggested that there were moves on the table for him, but he has stayed for another half season at least. So for the next match against Wolves id like to see us work on a 4333.

I think this could really work! A lot depends on weather Dos Santos really has a role at the club. Also the new young Spanish kid would do well in the formation playing on either side as an inside forward. Then if hudd aint fit chuck in Livermore till Sandro comes back. Anyways just a thought

So I will be SHOCKED if we don't go for 4-4-1-1 or 4-4-2 vs. Wolves.

Defoe was decent agaisnt City so I think we might be going back to a 4-4-2 against Wolves. Also gives Bale and Lennon another target to aim at.Originally Posted by AmericanHotspur

The $64,000 question is whether Lennon is injured or not; Physioroom seems to think he still has a groin-strain (is this why he came off against City?)
When thinking about it, that 4-3-3 suggested at the top is one of the few formations we can field that makes sense. If Lennon and VdV are injured, we've really no-one to play RW (Niko at a massive stretch). Again, whether GdS is thrust back in to the plans remains to be seen.
I'd love to see us try it but I don't see that happening. But I guess that is what Football Manager is for right?
Quite honestly, the only reason we play 4-4-1-1 is to accomodate VDV. In his absence 'Arry will go for the tried and tested (for him) 4-4-2.
Word is that Sandro will be fit for Wolves, don't know about Gallas or King but by god we need them as Dawson has been atrocious and Kaboul not much better!

With Parker and Sandro getting behind the ball in the way that Barry and Yaya did for City it would allow the four attacking players more freedom to interchange, and Walker would offer good options overlapping down the right.
If he can do it on the left then i see no problem to try him on the right, he only started to play left wing when he came to England for some reason.
But as i watched that one game where Corluka was searching for teammates to throw the ball to from the side, he completely ignored a free Niko and gave the ball away to Roman in that case who was well marked.
They can say that everything is cool between them but that throw in showed something else to me.
Anyway the point is Corluka and Niko would have to play together on the right, not the best friends in the past and it could backfire but till its not tried out we will never know.
I forgot about their speed, boy oh boy would that be a slow attacking side.. but if it does the job and creates goals who the hell cares..

Really? Well that's a bonus. It will be interesting to see how 'Arry uses Thudd, Parker and Sandro this season, given all three can't play unless Modric suffers from a 'head isn't right' injury.
Looks pretty good actually.
I've always liked the idea of having one out-and-out winger, like Bale. Then on the other side an inverted winger, which dos Santos is. It would give some variation in attack that I think we lack.
I know its been talked about to death, but we might as well use Gio in some shape or form if he's here. We have zero competition for Lennon, and Lennon needs a kick up the arse to be honest.
Unfortunately, we know Harry will go 4-4-1-1 or 4-4-2. Rightly so to be honest, because throwing that team out against Wolves where we are desperate for a win, would be too risky. Europa maybe?

Dont think GDS has a role at the club, nor a squad number right now.......and I dont think Harry would play this formation when we have our best XI players fit.

So nobody is interested in playing VDV anymore?
I thought the same, but he is probably injured..
There is no other way to explain him missing in all these formations..
