He's certainly one of the best shot-stoppers in the world, but it takes more than that to be a good goalkeeper.
      Saves (superb!)
      Positioning (so-so)
Distribution (one of his worst areas)
Decision Making (one of his worst areas)
      Reactions (superb!)
      Organisation (so-so)

Don't take this as a negative post, just pointing our where he needs to improve to be considered the best.

It will be nice to have Huerehlo back. He is a top goalkeeper, and brings a lot of passion into the team.

However, I was impressed with Carlo today. He made some remarkable saves, and kept the game from getting even further out of hand. Our goal is in good hands (Ugh, sorry for the pun).

I love Gomes too but I don't think you could fault Carlo today, for me he was MOTM.
If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs and blaming it on you ... you probably haven't a clue what's going on!

i dont fault Carlo but Giggs free kick Gomes would have saved as Carlo was too short to reach, 2nd goal was a soft 1 i think Gomes would have saved & 3rd Gomes wouldn't have gut nut megged IMO.

Thats no fault of Carlo's though, he can't help being shorter than Gomes. For the 3rd goal Rooney looked up early and saw the angle, 1 on 1 you'd favour him against the keeper as he's a top quality striker. I agree that Gomes would of saved the first 2, but Carlo is still a better all-round keeper imo.

Two different styles , but yes both world class and both could walk into most EPL first teams .

the malbranque save is just not possible

i do think its silly to say gomes would have saved the first two, as if the game would have played out exactly the same had he been playing

He's still only in his second season. Was a massive hero for psv & his passion is infectious. Given time I can see him as a vice captain at the very least.

That save from steedyboy is amongst the best i think i've ever seen tbh. I remember that game so well, numerous times i prepared to celebrate before fookin gomes did something magic

but i do recall him doing some dodgy punches in that game too?

Yeah he's always had that and still does. Bad decision making. The punch against Hull was un-challenged and he could of easily caught it. He has the potential to be the best in the world, but has to polish up in certain areas.
