After being blinded in one eye because he had a coming together with one of his team mates, he has said that he will continue to play. It's not 100% clear if he is totally blind in that eye or whether the sight will come back in 6months, the article wasn't clear. I couldn't imagen playing a game of football with an eyepatch on, the depth perseption would be totally screwed up.

Gattuso: I’ll play on with one eye

FORMER Rangers star Rino Gattuso last night pledged to continue playing — despite being left blind in one eye.

The ex-Ibrox ace — who now plays for Italian side AC Milan — lost the sight on his left side after a horror collision with a team-mate.
But last night the 33-year-old bravely vowed to bounce back following the clash with defender Alessandro Nesta during a game last month.
He said: "Football is my life. I will fight hard to return.
"The important thing is not to give up."

Horror ... clash that blinded ace

Midfielder Gattuso had been experiencing vision problems before he collided with Nesta during the Serie A clash against Lazio on September 9. He lost sight in his left eye after suffering a paralysis of the seventh cranial nerve. The injury has ruled him out for six months.
But he said: "I'm a lucky man. Three weeks ago doctors told me there was a chance I might never play again, but now they are saying that is not the case.
"For a while I was scared about my health and worried for my life. But now I have undergone several tests I'm calmer. It'll take more than this to beat me."
Couple ... with Scots wife Monica
      Daniele Venturelli

Gattuso suffered TRIPLE vision after the collision with Nesta. But he said: "Now I see double. There has been some improvement. I can train, but I can't play as I can't see well enough. "Right now I can't send an email, I can't watch TV, I can't drive and it's tough not to be able to take my children to school. I will need to wait another four months before an operation can take place to resolve everything.
"The important thing is to get back to normal life and to come out of this stronger than ever."
Milan's chief medical officer Rodolfo Tavana yesterday gave the star reason to be hopeful.

He said: "In 25 per cent of cases the palsy of the sixth optic nerve occurs for unknown reasons. Often this kind of problem clears up by itself in a period of two to six months."
Gattuso lives in Italy with Scottish wife Monica, 33.
They wed after meeting in her father's Italian restaurant while he was at Rangers in 2002. She moved to the country when he headed to AC Milan.

Obviously I didn't like what Gattuso did in our match and I'm not a Milan fan but I feel for him. That's a tough injury, there were some doctors saying when he was first injured that he might never see out of that eye again and if he could it would never be perfect vision. I've read some things that suggest that he might get vision back but the rehab isn't going that well.

That will be one hefty insurance pay out!!!

He wont play again if he has one eye.

      Not a chance.

The health and safety brigade wont allow it and he would be double shit anyway.

I got a twitch in my eye a few months ago and tried doing things with just one eye. It doesnt work. Especially driving lol!

      Too soon...?

What goes around comes around. Joe Jordan didn't lamp him one despite getting headbutted.
Corluka didn't lamp him one either.
An eye for an eye [sort of].

In Italy, there isn't really a health and safety brigade (no real concern for health and safety at all as far as I'm aware) so he should be fine in Serie A at least.

Well, one thing's for sure, I bet Gattuso would do a better job than that fooker Gordon Brown.

What? So he almost got into a fight with a coach during a FOOTBALL MATCH and that means he deserves to be blinded in one eye. Football is a game, this can affect the rest of his life. Gattuso away from the pitch he's actually a decent guy.

      Have you met him?

Anyways, I was joking when I said what I said.

So what if it was just a football match!? If anything, it's even more important in the interests of sportsmanship that
he conduct himself better! He was on the losing side in a game against better opposition on the night, so does that mean that our STAFF [not players] OR ANY OTHER TEAM HE MAY COME ACROSS deserve abuse for winning against his team!? Gimme a break lol.

This would go for any player, not just Gattuso.

It's just a bit of banter. Nobody actually thinks he deserves to be blind. Don't be taking things so serious.
