Anyone else that can't fooking wait?!

Of course it's an 'obvious' prediction but I think it will be New Zealand's year this time....at home, Richie McCaw's last World Cup, best team in the world.....SURELY they will do it this time!

I have a few very good Kiwi friends myself so I'm hoping out of all the teams in with a chance of winning it, that they can pull it off.

Will be supporting Scotland of course but what chance do we have! Tough group with England and Argentina in it so I'd be happy with a quarter final finish tbh.

Starts on Friday, first game is New Zealand vs. Tonga.

BTW would anyone be interested in joining a RWC fantasy league? There's a good one on the ESPN website...

The second love of my life! For me, there is the beautiful game as played by THFC and there is Rugby Union. There are poor imitaions of this noble game, there is the one where you have to let go after a tackle - that's for little girls. There's the one were you pat the ball all over an egg shaped pitch - that is also for little girls - rough ones I'll admit. And, there's that fecking ridiculous game where panises run onto the pitch, kick the ball then run back off again before anyone can ruffle their hair, forward passes are allowed, they wear tights and a game lasts about 17 hours with all the pansying around - WFT is that all about?

I remember the pain of crashing into the rock hard pitch and the broken noses (I've only got one, but it got broke at least twice!). The beautiful englishness of calling the referee sir, the sheer violence on the pitch which was completely forgotten and forgiven in the bar afterwards. Ahh - happy memories, my knees are fcuked now and I get arthritis in a new place every winter and I only played at schoolboy level and for a few years after that for a local amateur side - I really hate to think what Sir Johnny will be like when he's as old as me!

I was there in Sydney in 2003 when the mighty England side ripped the beating hearts from the Ozzies. The whole of that mighty city was English that night! I would love to be in NZ for this one - but the fcuking recession fcuked up my business and I am brassic.

I hate negativity and I wish the English lads good luck ... but ...I really think this is year of the All Blacks, let's hope I'm wrong and we're all singing 'Land Of Hope And Glory' from the rooftops (not me obviously I can't get up the ladder - cos of me' knees, but I'll sing it from the sofa instead!)

I've just thanked you as I saw you had 'the number of the beast' number of thanks - if you are the dark lord - please remember that I am your mate, er, Master... and don't cast me into the fiery pit or condemn me to an eternity in a small room with Arsene Wenger! Ta boss!

Well, if you can't watch the games you can always close this thread so nobody else can enjoy a bit of banter.

How many bells does this ring for us THFC supporting geezers? The England captain Lewis Moody is injured and so won't play in the opening game against Argentina.

OK, no dramas! Mike Tindall was superb last week against Ireland and must be the replacement skipper. He'll have his other comrades - Thompson and Wilkinson from the Ozzie bashing side of 2003 by his side.

After the Wales debacle, the game against Ireland was 'interesting' - not great, but a big improvement . Manu Tuilagi (good old English name that!) was a pucker try scoring beast and Wilko looked good for an old 'un! If Martin Jonson can beat some discipline into his squad - all the Irish points came from penalties, then we could do well.

We ain't the rough, tough, tenacious, driving machine of 2003, but we do have some good players and the England team seems to lift itself during World Cups. We had a shocking start to the last World Cup, I didn't think we get through to the second round, but we got to the final.

      My prediction : England 23: Argentina 12

Yeah I can, or I can ban you for taking unnecessary shot at mods on unrelated issues and not feel a damn thing. I can see we aren't going to get along. How many times did I try and make clear I was debating the topic not the man, move on, stop whining.

good mix of experience and youth in this england squad so i can see us doing fairly well... we know we are capable of beating Argentina and Scotland so hopefully if we perform we should make the Semi's at least...

Rugby is my main sport although i don't follow any club teams i have a friend who plays for Saracens reserve team... and has been capped at England U19's, and although im only 23 i have been playing rugby since i was six and am now the captain of my local team... so the rugby world cup is my highlight every 4 years... the only shame this year is i don't think i can get away with drinking at 8am when watching the games

      COME ON ENGLAND!!!

Tuilagi is the one to watch this year, him and Ashton.
