Hey guys. I love using the chat room during matches but of late not many people have been using it. Would it benefit the forum if we directed forumers to the chat room if they wanted to post about the game during the game and save the match thread for pre-match and post-match discussion. The chat room is far quicker as it is in real time and it would save on refreshing and stuff in the thread. It might not benefit the forum but I have heard people ask where the chat room was when it was discussed on occasion so I am not sure if everyone knows of its benefits. What does everyone else think?

To be honest I mainly use the chat room when the match isn't televised. It wouldn't hurt if the chat section had somewhat of a more noticeable look tho.

If I am on my laptop I use the chat but as I am mainly a mobile user the chat function is not available.
I do agree though that people should not post in a thread during the game.
It use to be at the bottom of the forum main page and that was superb for match days.
It's good if you get a few in there.
Does anyone use sky through their Xbox?
I am waiting to get a few more than just me and Nundy on it for a match.

It's definitely better on most fronts, but from my point of view the major disadvantage is if I'm watching on a stream it's usually delayed by a minute or so, and some marty mcfly in the chat is watching on tv so sometimes I get news from the future which takes some of the magic out of the game.
Reporter: "What is it like to score against the best team in the world [Barcelona]?".
Jake Livermore: "Score against the best team in the world??? I play for them [TOTTENHAM]."

i quite like using the chatroom when im streaming. If im watching spurs im always in it and tbh it's much less distracting than you'd think. Its not like msn or anything you dont have to ping messages back and forth and you can discuss the talking points when you need to.
agree, the chat room can be great fun but sometimes theres only one or 2 in there. i went in it the other week and there was not a sole there apart from me. afater a few chats to myself i gave up lol

I have no problem with people asking other members to go into the chat on match days, however i see no viable reason to make it even more visible than the massive "chat" link in the main navigation. The forum isnt active enough at this time of year to warrant purposely taking members away from posting. The forum only survives and attracts new members when there are posts being made, Take new posts away and you would be very surprised how fast a semi active forum can soon loose its new member base which then makes it stale and the old members start to also get bored.
So at this moment in time if you wish to ask other members to go into chat thats entirely up to those individuals however there will be not real effort by the forum to promote using a chat rather than posting.
The chat box was good but is more hassle than its worth to be honest and will cause the forum unnecessary slow downs.
The game thread has become a chat lol
