David scored a cracker of a free-kick yesterday only for Sky to mark it down as an OG!!
It is almost certain to go to the Dubious Goals Committee but really, any other decision other than to award the goal to Bentley would be a tragedy.
His free kick was hit brilliantly and, if Kirkland had not been there, it would've crashed into the top corner unaided. However, Kirkland was there but, despite his best efforts, he still could not keep it out.
There is no set rule to decide who should be awarded a goal but the Premier League say the following:
"As a rule, if the initial attempt is goalbound it is credited to the player making the goal attempt. However if the deflection means that a wayward effort results in a goal then it is attributed to the player who had the last definitive touch of the ball."
By that statement I would say that the goal has to go to Bentley as his initial strike was goal-bound. At the very least it is impossible to say that it would not have gone in if Kirkland had not got his fingertips to it & the fact that the ball ended up in the net was solely because of the quality of Bentley's strike.
Nobody knows when the committee meet or even who they are but I want to get as many signatures as possible, as quickly as possible, & send it to the Premier League and to Spurs anyway in the hope that they take it into consideration.
They might do, they probably won't, but Bentley deserves that goal & if signing a piece of paper helps him get it, then my name will be there

Coooome oooon yoooou spuuuurs, cooome ooon yooou spuuurs.
Signed it too - come on guys, David deserves the recognition
Im sorry but I find this a bit daft to be honest. The initial attempt was saved and therefore not goal bound. The last difinitive touch came off kirkland when the ball was travelling away from the goal so it can surely only be classified as an own goal? It was a great free kick and that deserves recognition but it has happened plenty of times before and always goes down as an own goal by the keeper.
Feel for the lad but it was a blatent o.g going by the rules, if the keeper didn't touch it it wouldn't have gone in, it hit the post bounced out onto the keeper and went in lol. Great effort do.

hmmm...
do u think bentley is so worried about if its his goal or not?
he shouldnt be ... on paper it may not go down as a goal but
harry knows he came on and made a great impact and so should he.
That being said it was a stunning strike and would be great for him to be credited as a goal.
(anyone did bentley get an assist for the kranjar goal?)
Oh jesus christ guys, lighten up.
It is only a bit of fun. FFS
