Chelski in big trouble?

I've just herd on the rumour mill that Chelski have been slapped with a ban forbidding them to register/sign any players for 12 months. Can't find anything on the press wire as yet. Can anyone else clarify this?

Just seen on SSN, Chelsea have been banned from signing any players until January 2011 by FIFA due to the way they signed youngster Gael Kakuta from Lens in 2007. Wow, harsh ban, but things like this will stop big clubs poaching all the young talent from smaller clubs, but this seems very harsh!!

FIFA says it has banned Chelsea from signing any players for the next year because it encouraged a French player to break his contract and sign for the club.

FIFA said Thursday that Chelsea can't register new players, from England or abroad, during the next two transfer windows — in January 2010 and the next offseason.

FIFA's Dispute Resolution Chamber made the ruling after Lens complained that Chelsea lured Gael Kakuta to break his contract with the French club and move to London.

The dispute panel banned also Kakuta from playing for four months, and ordered Kakuta and Chelsea to pay Lens compensation and a training fee.

Chelsea can appeal the decision.

Googled it...but nothing...if there is one team that should be banned from buying, then, that should be Man. City. Come Feb.'10 - they'll probably have the likes of Dani Alves, Ronaldhino, Ribery in their squad.

Kakuta has to pay about £700 000 to Lens and has a 4 month ban too

Next year this could cripple Chelsea unless its overturned, there squad is old as it is and next year they will all be older without being able to freshen the squad, and if anyone leaves they are fooked!
This is massive news if the ban remains, as it will seriously hold them back

It won't stand.....Chelsea will appeal and it will be reduced to 1 transfer period or recinded all together and a bigger fine payed.

I have serious doubts to havocc, if it reduced to 1 period they will be okay as there squad is strong now, and next summer is when they may need 2 or 3 players

I neva knew any1 culd get a transfer window ban, but Chelsea makes this even sweeter.

Imagine if the ban was impsoed on Man Citeh?
