Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has taken a grim view of the injuries sustained by some of his automatic starters.
"We can give everybody a game," Redknapp is quoted in ESPNStar as saying.
"But we need our best players. We need Ledley [King], we need Luka [Modric]."
The cockney gaffer compared the loss of the club's stars to taking away Steven Gerrard and Fernando Tores from the Liverpool line-up, or Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand from Manchester United.
"We're no different to anybody else," he remarked.
"Take Steven Gerrard and [Fernando] Torres out of Liverpool or [Wayne] Rooney and Rio [Ferdinand] out of [Manchester] United and they're not the same," he concluded.
The Lilywhites have had a fantastic start to the season, notching up four wins in as many games.
actually, I think we are better than most, certainly liverpool, in that respect.
Take away Torres & Gerrard & Liverpool are starting to look threadbare. However, take away King & Modric &, altho we don't have 2 players who will ever give us exactly what those 2 can, we are definitely not as bad off as Liverpool, as Peter Crouch's performance after Modric left the field proved. We were all over Brum but we only won the game after Modric & King had left the field. I think Liverpool would struggle to get a result if they lost both Torres & Gerrard at HT in a match.
King and Bongani,
King and Bongani bong!!
(watch out here they come!)
Will we stay or will we go now?
Will we stay or will we go now?
If we go there will be trouble
and if we stay we'll do the double
So Levy has got let us know
Will we stay or will we go!
Rafael, Van Der Vaart
ƒuck Chelsea & Frank Lampard
with a nick-nack paddywhack he'll be getting goals
when Lampard's too fat & old
COYSAFOYS
Good point bass, we've already won a match this season without Modders & King, so there should be no reason why we can't do it again.
Modders hasn't been with us all his career (though I wish he had!), so it's not as doom and gloom as some are making out.
"You score goals as a kid. Then you grow up stupid and become a goalkeeper."
It aint like 'Arry to say something like that, he wouldn't put down the team's moral basicly putting his burden on 1-2 players...It's possible but probs just "paper talk"
And if he really said it, well, we can do very well without then, we have enough depth, maybe not as good as modric, but would be a good occasion for another MC to proove his worth...
Coooome oooon yoooou spuuuurs, cooome ooon yooou spuuurs.
i am loving the tougher spurs this season, bout time.

After Modric left, Keane was playing on the left which is not his strongest position. Starting Keane on the left and opponents double-manning Lennon who have we got for influencing passes? The second goal would not have happened had it not been for Carr's slip. I agree with Harry, losing Modric is like losing a Gerard because the two can change a game with their quick and smart passes.
King leaving was a huge factor in the game. With Birmingham's equaliser, Hutton marked and held off Benitiez brilliantly, but, he failed to communicate to Cudicini to get the ball. With King's influence, maybe it could have prevented the equaliser and helped Spurs keep a clean sheet.

does anyone see this injury as a perfect excuse for harry to have a cheeky bid and bring steed home? we know he can do a job on the left and wen modric is fit again him and steed could work well together!
just a thought!
Oh - you want me to watch my mouth, how?
Take my ****in eyeballs out, and turn em around?
There was still a lot to do after that though wasn't there. If we're talking like that then their goal was extremely lucky as well, considering Benitez was climbing all over Hutton also.
Hudd, though not as good as Modric can put some quality balls in. He set up JD well which should of put us 1-0 up. We have the height of Crouch, which no defender in the PL can compete with, fact.
As good as Modders is for us, we still have a variety of other options. Birmingham are a joke, they came and parked the bus from the first minute and then went all or nothing when we scored. United & Chelsea won't do that, the matches with them will be more open.

well as I said we need to wait and see if u guys are right that we have good depth without modric and king.
A home game vs someone who came from 2nd league rarely winning 2-1 doesnt mean much considering we won in the 95 minute. With modric I'm pretty sure we would of scored 2-3 more in second half. And wouldnt receive one either with king.
The games vs manu and chelsea will tell us more. I am so worried tho cuz kings injurey if hes out that means corluka has to play CB and hutton will be on right back. Hutton has been awful ... I just hope he recovers some form any time soon
I think this shows that Arry is a bit worried about about loosing the lads.
Like bass said though we are covered better than most, especially with the recent acquisitions from Pompey and Citeh.
modric & king huge loss but i think we have the squad to cope especially after the start we have had.
This is Arry mind games before the Man Utd clash .... his way of getting the rest of the squad to prove him wrong. Also this reduces the pressure on us to win as he can now claim we were missing our two key players.
The truth is that we have plenty of squad depth and who knows maybe Hudd will hit two 30 yard screamers ... COYS

I'm not so much worried about losing Modders as i am about losing Ledders . Keane stepped into LW as it was his old position for club and country , but nobody can fill Ledleys boots as was proved as soon as he left the field = we looked totally exposed at the back . Birmingham actually thought they could win the game in the last 20 mins = a game that should have been in the bag for us in the first 15 mins of the game . We must take our opportunities in future because there is no doubt at all in my mind that we will be conceeding plenty . We have a fragile back 4 - so we need to get a bit of educated muscle that can take a few knocks without getting sidelined through injury .
Except, of course, that Luka isn't a diving - should - be - jailbird!
If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs and blaming it on you ... you probably haven't a clue what's going on!
