Back at the lane?
Sky Sports | Football | News | Campbell rejected Prem offers
""But of course there were a few managers interested (but) there were a few situations, some managers wanted it to happen and then you get the chairman who doesn't want it to happen, there was a lot of politics."
Then I read this:
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp admits: "I would have taken Sol Campbell back"
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp admits: "I would have taken Sol Campbell back" - MirrorFootball.co.uk
Redknapp still rates Campbell as one of the top six defenders in the country and said: “I’ll be honest with you, if I wasn’t at Tottenham, if I was at any other Premier League cub, I would have signed Sol Campbell."
----------------------------------------------------------------
It sounds like Redknapp would have taken Campbell back to Tottenham, but Levy wouldn't allow it.
What do you think?
Nah I don't believe that, 'Arry is smarter than that. He said last season he couldn't even play Ghaly because of the boo's and Judas gets x10 worse than that.
Besides we have 5 of the other 6 best CB's in the country![]()
"You score goals as a kid. Then you grow up stupid and become a goalkeeper."
I think it would have been a bit hard for us supporters to accept him back after what he did to us. Maybe he is one of the top six defenders but to be honest he would have had a very hard time if he did come back to Spurs.

I could see sit ins and protests after home matches and wouldn't be surprised to see a few supporters getting rid of their season tickets.

If Levy said NO then he must be turning into a true fan - Campbell get lost
"And the defender admitted: “I am not going to go into Spurs’ interest as there were other situations involved with the chairman.
”Redknapp said: “It wasn’t possible to bring him back to Tottenham. But I’m surprised no-one’s taken him in the Premier."

Could be the press "stirring" but if the quote is true then looks like we showed interest.
tbh I would of signed him, then do what we did with Ghaly and stop paying him and let him rot without any matches.
"You score goals as a kid. Then you grow up stupid and become a goalkeeper."
leaving aside everything else, I don't see him as even close to one of the top six defenders in the league tbh
Its not just us supporters.
Adrian Durham made this same point on TalkSport yesterday & tried to imply that we are therefore preventing the manager from getting the player he wants.
However, I don't think this is what Harry meant. Yes, there would be a lot of politics involving Sol moving back to Spurs & that would be negative toward our team. There would be huge focus on Sol, not just from fans but from the press & it would be a distraction.
There is bad blood there. Harry doesn't care personally, he only wants to improve the team, but he knows this just wouldn't work. He wouldn't get the same Sol Campbell here at Spurs as he had at Pompey or if he took him to another club. As soon as Sol stepped foot back in the Lane there would be a stink. The players wouldn't appreciate it either, whether they are friends with him or not. I don't mean because of what he did, altho some might not like it, but they would not like the attention he would get.
Also, how can the team or anyone at Spurs look at Sol & see a loyal leader figure after what he did to us? He can command that sort of reputation at any other club, but not here.
So it is not all us fans' fault. Sol cut his ties with Spurs & he did it in such a manner he knew he would not be coming back.
If, at the end of the day, Harry was naive enough to think he could have made something work here at Spurs, then good on Levy for putting his foot down over this one
