Police search for body of Spurs midfielder Palacios's young brother

Honduran authorities found human remains they believe are those of Edwin Rene Palacios, the brother of Tottenham midfielder Wilson Palacios.

There has been no trace of Edwin Rene Palacios since armed assailants abducted him from his home in October 2007. He was 16 at the time. Police say the family paid a ransom of $500,000, but the teenager was not released.

"According to all the evidence provided to the police, we think the bones are those of the young person, Palacios," police chief Nelson Osorio said on Friday.

Edwin Rene Palacios played on the reserve squad of Honduran first-division team Olimpia.

Osorio said 50 police armed with shovels and other excavating tools unearthed the body after four days of digging in a mountain area about 250 kilometers north of the Honduran capital. He said the body was found two meters underground wearing shoes and sports clothing.

Osorio said two imprisoned gang members, leaders of a gang called "18," led police to the burial site. He said two men had confessed to the killing. He identified them as Alexander Reyes and Elmer Orellana.

"The forensic doctors working in the public prosecutors office will analyze the remains and we don't know how long the process will take," Osorio said.

Thats terrible, to pay the ransom and not let the lad go. Awful behaviour from a bunch of low life savages. Id hang them and burn them at the same time if i had my way.

I hope Palacios is ok, ,must be very hard to take. Him and Defoe have had a really tough time of things lately.

i remeber when he got kidnapped but i always thought they got him back after paying the ransom.the only thing i can think of is they paniced and killed him before the ransom was paid.rip

All I can say is at least Wilson can get some closure now. Whilst it must be a terrible discovery (albeit one he must have suspected), it must be much worse not knowing where he is, how he is being treated, not being able to speak with him. At least now Edwin can be returned to his loved ones.

Our thoughts are with the entire Palacios family.
