Setanta looks like they are in deep trouble. I guess it is to do with how expensive they are to subscribe to and how much they need to pay out every month. Personally I won't miss them.
Setanta: Irish Sports Broadcaster Struggles For Survival As It Seeks £100m In Funding | Business | Sky News
good its been shocking you had to pay for it seperate from sky lets hope it go,s
My prayers have been answered.
Maybe i can watch England friendlies now.
"There's a fine line between madness and genius - God removed that line and replaced it with Gazza"
GOOD!!
Still cant believe the FA allowed them to broadcast an FA Cup semi-final even if it was just the scum !! What next ? The Final as well ??
Too expensive and uneccessary IMO - pay enough for Sky
I can see where you guys would be happy, but this sucks for us Americans. We get so few games on the tube over here anyway. Setanta, though expensive, brought a few more! Now we'll have to rely almost entirely on webcasts, which are so iffy.
There is no online subscription to Sky is there? I'd much rather have it!!
didnt they lose out on loads of premier league games for next year??
sky got most or all of them i heard??
so i guess they would only show f.a cup and england maybe?
I'm not too bothered as I got Setanta for free anyway(Free on Virgin, when buying Sky Sports Package!)
Will you lot that did subscibe get ya readies back then if the go down the gurgler?
Betting ya dont......
Whilst I do agree that it is a nice thing on a personal perspective (from someone that has never paid subscription to Setanta) that the chances are matches will come back to SS.
However I do think Setanta will be a big loss to football. The more channels that are to watch matches on, the more the bidding war goes up. The more the bidding war goes up, the more the FA get. The more the FA get, the more the clubs get.
Setanta's current deal was worth £150million. And this also brought money to the Blue Sq Prem.
By the looks of it they are now also wanting to defer £60million on the extended £392million EPL deal. The question is that ITV and Setanta bought in together, so could this bring down ITV's football coverage and leave it just with Sky and the Beeb? And Sky will easily outbid Auntie for major games. So we have gone from 4 channels to one.
Hopefully all clubs will have learned from the ITV digital fiasco.
Well if anyone knows whether or not it is possible to get an online subscription to Sky I would appreciate. Not holding my breath, though. We can't get a thing football wise in the States.
