The blood and thunder of a North London derby reared it’s head in the unlikely setting of S****horpe’s Glandford Park on Tuesday evening.
The Iron were desperate for a win over Cheltenham to boost their play-off hopes, while the Robins were left looking for a win to gain some pride in the penultimate match of an otherwise miserable campaign.
Probably rather unsurprisingly it was S****horpe who got the points, with goals from Paul Hayes, Cliff Byrne and on-loan Arsenal youngster Henri Lansbury sealing an impressive 3-0 win, as the home side moved into the play-off spots with a game to spare at the expense of Tranmere, who they’ll play on Saturday in what is a effectively a play-off for the play-offs.
However the match ended on a sour note on 90 minutes, as Cheltenham's Spanish fullback Yuri Berchiche, on loan from Tottenham, went in high, late and two-footed on Lansbury, causing the attacking midfielder to be rushed to hospital with a suspected broken leg.
This will almost ertainly mean the Gunners youngster will play no further part in Scunny’s season, including the play-offs, should they seal their place in the top six on Saturday.
Quite where this rather ugly episode leaves Berchiche isn’t clear, but Cheltenham boss Martin Allen was evidently less than chuffed with the youngster’s action - withdrawing him from action before the game had even finished as the Robins voluntarily finished the match with ten men.
Hmm not sure why that happened
Berchiche is a YID!
Haha but seriously, I never like to see another human get hurt bad. Shameful action from the young lad.
COME ON YOU SPURS!!!
The swear filter kicked in mate. Lol
Unfortunatly their name contains a certain C word that is often looked down upon.
