It probably will not have escaped your attention that a certain Russian has been missing from our line-up in recent weeks.
I am of course referring to Mr Roman Pavlyuchenko, a player who has played just seven minutes of competitive football for us since the 4-0 whipping of Middlesbrough one month ago.
Pav played the best part of 180 minutes for Russia over the international week and a full game for our reserves last month, yet it is interesting to note that he has only played two full 90 minutes in the league since Harry took over.
What do you put this down to? Is Redknapp simply resting Pav following his exhaustive 13 month season, or is there something deeper than this... does Harry simply not rate him?
Your thoughts, please l&g.
"There's always next year..."
think pav will go in the summer
sad to day this but i love pav but arry does not rate him and he will be sold in the summer
think he will start the next match for deffo.i think arry has been really fair with the players tbo,if your playing well and you take your chance your in the team simple as.im the biggest pav fan on here{apart from the russian guys}but he was so bad in the cc cup final that arry had to give bent a chance and tbo bent did well in the games up to todays game where i thought he done well in the first half but was utter pony in the second.arry was going to bring him on today in the last minute but changed his mind, and being the manager arry is im sure he will relise the effect this would have on a player so i think he will start him against the spammers.and in fairness pav has come out and said he needs to work hard to get back in the team and really likes arry so i dont hink its a problem
"There's always next year..."
i know mate its strange and i know im going to get dogs abuse for this but how many games has this guy played in the last 2 years ffs.we dont see what goes on in training so he may have be showing signs of fatigue and harry dropped him or as people have stated on here arry doesnt fancy him ,which is something i dont believe btw.pav to shine against the spammers mark my words
thats what i think mate but will arry think the same thing
i can honestly seeing pav go in the summer
see i set you up there ,your king of the stats and i could be bothered to look it up.ive seen most of the russia match the other night and if im honest he done fook all but still managed to score and set up the second so thats not bad in my book.thats why bent drives me bonkers he looks either switched on or asleep and theres no inbetween with him plus i think pavs all round game is much better.hes come from a league were you get weeks to control a ball to a league where centrebacks are kicking you up the harris b4 to even have the ball, of course its going to take time to adjust and when you look at his all round record for matches to goals hes doing great.so lets get off the guys back and remeber this we wouldnt have even have been in the cc cup final without him even though he was crap in the final
You're right, thfcire... I'm a stataholic! I actually thought he was starting to form a decent partnership with Defoe before the little fella got injured.
If he can recreate some of that form next season I can see us doing well. I can't see Defoe and Keane playing together if I'm honest. We need someone with a bit of height to give us an extra outlet, especially if we're gonna be playing Lennon and Modric.
"There's always next year..."
I know what you are saying & I said something similar in another thread. However I think Pav had been carrying a nagging injury. He had it before the CC final but played on regardless &, tbh, you could tell he wasn't 100% then. However, Pav had been on form & I think Harry wanted to utilise that & Pav would play either way, you know he would.
We were still struggling by the Boro game & Harry started with Pav because he was the more in form striker, but he still wasn't fully fit I feel. Once we were 3 goals up, Harry obviously thought we were safe & he could rest Pava. Since then Darren has come in & done fairly well & the teams been winning. No manager is going to change a winning side.
However, Darren is still not scoring & we lost this last game which we ought to have won. If Darren had been sharper we would have got a 2nd & we would definitely have won that game. Harry has an excuse to change things up a bit now & keep us fresh. Pav has shown with Russia that his fitness is back again. Its good tbh, because when Pav does come back for us, he'll really want to impress.
I have to say tho, I think Harry still does not like having to talk to him thru an interpreter.
I have a suspicion he's played a lot more than that tbh. That can't include internationals, especially friendlies.

(watch out here they come!)
Will we stay or will we go now?
Will we stay or will we go now?
If we go there will be trouble
and if we stay we'll do the double
So Levy has got let us know
Will we stay or will we go!
Rafael, Van Der Vaart
ƒuck Chelsea & Frank Lampard
with a nick-nack paddywhack he'll be getting goals
when Lampard's too fat & old

its a funny thing i thought of all the combinations he linked up best with the manc{remeber him} i honestily believe if pav was playing today we would have won that game by a couple of goals.as someone else stated earlier the 2 balls lennon shot across the box theres no doubt in my mind pav would have been on the end of both of them just by the style of play he plays{think of the burnley game{i think}where he slid in at the back post and ended up hitting the post.thats why think hs a more nautral player than bent hes al about scoring goals
Pav did link up well with the Manc, I agree but he linked up well with Defoe too, and Keano. That game against Liverpool I think any of those strikers could have played alongside Pav because the scousers gave us so much room!

i think we loook a much better balanced team with pav in the team.some of our football today was the best weve played all season and tbo im still sitting here amazed we lost that game today against what i think judging by the way they played today one of the worst teams in the prem.they are so bad its untrue but it sums up our season in one game ,we just cant cope with battling teams we gt beaten everytime.and the worst part is i cant pinpoint the point where it went wrong went apart from the sending off.but we should be able to see a game like that out today even with 10 men
