2008 was Keegan, this year it's Shearer's turn.

Who do you think will be the latest Newcastle Messiah in twelve months time?

      Here's a few possibilities:

      1) Geoff from Byker Grove

Anyone else think numbers 2 and 3 look similar?

As far as I'm concerned, Newcastle have 3 decent players (Bassong, Owen and Martins), a few good to average players (Nolan, Taylor and Gutierrez) and rest are all Championship standard.

Spot on. Steve Harper is an ok keeper, but nowhere near the quality of Given and he (and Michael Owen) pretty much kept them in the league last year. This year they don't have him to fall back on.
