we need a good start next season, we always seem to start slow and this has happened last 2 seasons which has cost us.
key to next season is we need to start quick. this season and last we started very slow.
i agree. if we had a good start this season we would be in top 6 now.
A big part of that is keeping some continuity in the side... while I definitely would like to bring in a few quality players it just disrupts the team too much if you are replacing 5-6 starters like this season.
aint gonna start talking about next season as yet, have to see how we finish this season before anything else
Cooooooome ooooooooon uuuuuuu spuuuuuuuurz
arty:
you always want to start strong. id like to see spurs keep most everyone and see what harry can do with them during the summer. he has done a great job with them, and he came in during the season. i am really excited to see what he can do with them during the summer.
but most important, we just need to see how well we can finish this season.
Yid Army!!!!
No mate.......... The key to next season is finishing this one strongly and achieving the unthinkable of actually getting back into Europe!!!
If we do that we will attract a better caliber of player to the club and with the contacts that Arry has that is a truly exciting prospect.
Agreed that when we start the new campaign we must start well but imagine how fired up our players would be if they achieved the unthinkable this season. They would be like bloody greyhounds out of the blocks.
thats where we should be aimimg for at least 5 place we need a good start
im not even going to bother....knowing spurs even if we did win our first 6 or 7 games, we'd only go and lose the next 5 to wolves, reading, bolton, blackburn, and stoke.
Most times we start well , the fans get over-excited and nothing seems good enough after that .
Harry has brought slow steady progress .
Last night i met one of the only scum fans that i can still bear to talk to - but before you get sh!tty this guy puts his money where his mouth is - He is a season ticket holder = has been since i've known him and his seat is close to the halfway line .
He thinks that we have actually turned the corner now BUT that Arsenal's academy boys are better than ours .
Well you couldn't expect anything else .
So i pushed the point that we are sending ours out to get experience at lower levels - he retorts that they only buy quality so dont need to send them out on loan .
Well if you push the start button the engine starts running = so i'm going now - so what have you won in the last five years you pr!ck - Suffice to say that i'm running out of goon mates = ( SING WHEN YOUR WINNING TWATS )
ask him why they sent out hoyte, bentdner, vela, simpson etc out on loan then kev
Good Morning, A good start to next season will hopefully begin
with our first game being at home!
Hope we don't change too much in the Summer, apart from a
couple of arrivals to strengthen. No European games on
Thursday nights I think may turn out to be a blessing...
Play a youth team in the Carling Cup, and FA Cup, giving the
first team players just 38 games, and we could have a good season.
slim i dunno if you were takin the mickey there .. ??
if not i think thats utterly ridiculous
Start as you mean to go on, as they say!
In regards to continuity, I think its always necessary to add players in the off season if you want to improve but you want to keep the core of your team, your central spine, intact. That was heavily messed with, especially last summer where our spine was basically ripped out of us in a Predator stylee!
A goalkeeper, central defenders, central midfield & strikers are the most important thing to keep relatively in one piece. If you are going to change it, it has to be a gradual thing.
tbh, I half agree with Slim. Not so much in the lack of European games & not that restricting our 1stXI to 38 games is the secret of a good season, I don't think it is that simple & likewise, a good cup run can equally be the secret of a good season.
However, I would like us to be in the position whereby we are having a good enough season to play our youth in the CC & perhaps in Europes early stages (should we get there!). I don't believe we need to do that in order to have a good season but I do feel it would ultimately be a good thing for the club & its future stars, so long as they can prove that they are good enough to play & that they can cope with such a high level of competition. So far, they haven't disappointed & I feel they ought to be rewarded for that.
The loan thing isn't about 'quality', its about turning boys into men. Teaching them that nothing gets handed to them on a plate & that they must fight to succeed in this world. If your Arsenal friend did indeed say that, he was either just trying to wind you up (which I suspect was the case) or he is a complete idiot (also plausible if he has a season-ticket at the Emirates)!
Just a final word on our Youth team. They are starting to run away with the FAYPAL (no, i did not mean PayPal!) after destroying Fulham U18s 4-1 away from home the other day, despite half the team being away on loan! They have now opened up a gap of 4 points on their nearest rivals & have a game in hand. Go on boys!
