This is quite bad news , as a builder it would seem like pay cuts all round . Now the foriegn labour will probably get the jobs on this project , which is what happened at Wembley and it cost telephone numbers in the end . The reason is because most construction companies now work on a management process only , and farm out the actual work to compete-ing companies . This in turn makes companies try to find error in other trades to gain extra dayworks . Believe me i run sites and when its put in front of you these guys are like bickering old women . What happens is most of the companies end up in meetings with the Architect trying to justify what are called Legitimate Extra's = this is where Wembley went wrong . "Ok here comes the sugar"
Now i know that Sir Alan Sugar still owns 13% of this club , the reason i know that is because he wasn't your true avid supporter before he bought the club , but the court battle between him and Venables turned a very big page in the mans life . So at least you know he will be giving his 2 peneth when it comes to parting with money .
I still love the man for saving our club = that will never go away .
I see your point Kev, if any work in that part of the industry is farmed out to foreigners that canonly be a bad thing for our UK work force aswell as our encomoy with alot of foreign pay leaving the country!
However you have to agree that in this particular case if Spurs are saving in the region of £40 mil then that can only be a good thing as far as re-investment ect into the club.
Cant wait to see it finished tbh.
F*ck Stratford!!!!
I'm a bit doubtful over the overall set-up of things , when jobs are priced up they do it at bare minimum hoping to make the profit on the extras , but this is usually a good starting point which escalates to a sum which puts the company on the edge of bankruptcy . Wembley was a prime example of that
Crikey i sound like i'm scaremongering , i'm not - i'm just sharing knowledge = does that make sense lads
yeah me too the pictures of the new stadium look amazing i just hope they dont change the name and the cockerel still has a place
Totally get where you're coming from Kev altho these savings are from the dropping price in Steel & Cement as opposed to simply labour costs. They actually suggest there may even be more work available to labourers as a result of the savings made on materials.
King and Bongani,
King and Bongani bong!!
(watch out here they come!)
Will we stay or will we go now?

COYSAFOYS
Bass i tell ya i'm gonna try to speak to Mr Sugar like i did before and if i can get this job i would guarantee it will be done on time on budget and my fee will be a box for life . I sh!t you not mate .
thats good news for us
we must not employ foreign workers
why dont we just have spurs fans on the job then we would know passion went into building our great new arena
Guys, its not really about cheap labour and employing people who are not competent enough to complete the works. Its very simple - work is harder to find now for any construction company, meaning that companies are reducing their overheads and profits in order to win the work. Believe me ( and i can only speak on my own experience) the same labour force are in place, yes they have had to take a slight cut in their wages (to cover to reducing OHP) but generally the same people are still their working.
I mentioned on a previous post that it is a perfect time to build because work is not as available as 12months ago therefore companies have to reduce prices just to continue trading. FACT some companies are doing work for simply turnover now just to ride out the recession!!!!
Does anyone know when the works'll commence? I kind of look forward to it.
