I had the benefit of recording the game & watching later, a;ready knowing the result. It is a very different experience being able to enjoy the football without the added frustrations of being behind.
I was expecting to see an abysmal 'shocker' from Spurs and, certainly after the second goal went in , we weren't great.
However, we still played some good football at times and should have scored 2 or 3 goals that somehow got missed (perhaps the pitch/conditions *cough*)
We were a million miles of 'good' but we were OK, with a couple individual mistakes really letting us down.
I'm not trying to gloss over anything, there is no way Burnley should have had even a sniff of it but, credit where credit is due they did very well & took all their chances. Outside their 3 goals tho, they did not create to much else. Alnwick was (unfortunately because I don't like singling out individual players) directly to blame for 2 of their goals.
Just before I run for cover I just want to say that the biggest positive of the night for me, other than the fact we refused to give up, was David Bentley's performance.
He put some great balls into the box, hardly gave the ball away once, got stuck in on several occasions (trust me, I know its difficult to believe but he did. I've rewound them several times to watch out of disbelief!!). He produced some good skill at times & fought to not get pushed off the ball.
He was head & shoulders our best attacking player over the 90 min (which isn't saying a huge amount) & that is a huge bonus of the night imo.
Right, with that said . . .LEG IT!

King and Bongani,
King and Bongani bong!!
(watch out here they come!)
Will we stay or will we go now?
Will we stay or will we go now?
If we go there will be trouble
and if we stay we'll do the double
So Levy has got let us know
Will we stay or will we go!
Rafael, Van Der Vaart
ƒuck Chelsea & Frank Lampard
with a nick-nack paddywhack he'll be getting goals
when Lampard's too fat & old

Agreed. He played pretty well.
At least not as abysmal as in other matches.
I thought he was decent as well. He wasn't bad in the closing minutes of the Wigan match either. Harry has been pretty explicit in questioning his work ethic- maybe he's getting the message.
That was the main question I asked to myself before the game. In a way this was a crucial game for Bentley after being so poor and much criticized. His first tackle made me feel comfortable and that was enough to see he is ok (tho for how long). He overplayed Eagles and forced him to move to the opposite wing. This was very positive in the game.
wow. putting gloss on a 3-2 loss to burnley.
i wonder what you'd be saying if those 2 late strikes didnt happen
I think we would be saying , how did we lose with a 3 goal head start . The reason Ben Alnwick was has not been 2nd choice goalkeeper was there for all to see . He set up the wall where he wanted it , so no excuse whatsoever , Burnley see a chance to get in the game at that very moment , and wasted no time throwing everyone forward . VERY VERY lucky escape . And if they had won last night we couldn't say they didn't deserve it . Today i have to run the gauntlet , and the manure will waste no time in jumping on the ridicule wagon . But to any other fans = ahem!! WE'RE GOING TO WEMBLEY , WE'RE GOING TO WEMBLEY , YOUR NOT , YOUR NOT.
Have to agree Bentley did well, he got stuck in and chased players down and even saw some tricks. I must admit thought he was gonna get sent off after his first yellow as he was chasing everything but kept his head and had a good game, cant say the same for some of the rest of them (*cough* Hudd)
Sometimes in life you've gotta risk it for a biscuit !
I would like to trial Bentley in the CM/AM position more. I can see him as a playmaker
i agree with this one. if nothing else it looked like he was actually trying yesterday compared to lately!
he was the spurs player who had the most passion for the shirt last night, bar none. while i've always liked bentley (i put a poll up!), seeing that happen was akin to watching a child take his first steps! in my room last night it was all, oh my god bentley made a tackle, omg bentley didnt lose the ball, omg what a delivery, omg how did he pass those two guys?
definitely spurs' motm and a contender, although unlikely winner, of the game's motm award.
bentley was't the worse offender, and can get to keep some of his weekly wage. There were times last night when he was the best on the pitch for us.
I though Zokky was overall performer of the night. Along with the centre backs he can keep his money as well.
The rest of them should hand over their wages to all of the travelling fans. Continue to hold your heads in shame. If you dont wanna play a CC SF in the rain - let harry know and we'll cancel your contracts and loan you out to the non leagues until you manage to pull your head out of your ass's
I have officially given up on HUD btw. I hope Harry can prove me wrong and turn this lazy footballer around. But who ever posted that comment about how white his shirt was at half time made a smart observation. Im done.

sorry, hudd, go do some damn fitness training, bentley started running, now you just need to drop your damn stubble kit and go do some shuttle runs
Wow! That was a better response than I was expecting! lol! Its always easy to watch a game when you know the final score because you can evaluate people with the emotions & frustrations.
Belondon, there is no shame in the final scoreline, this Burnley side have shown themselves more than capable throughout this competition & once again played out theirt skins. I just hope 1 iota of their passion & drive rubbed off on us last night.
However, just as 4-1 was a harsh scoreline on Burnley in the first leg, so would 3-0 have been a harsh one for us. If we had lost by that margin I might not be focussing so much on the good game that Bentley had & more the shocking one Alnwick had in goal.
He did not need to make a save all night & the only 2 things he had to do he made a complete & utter hash of. The first goal was just an embarrassment of goalkeeping & their third weren't a whole lot better. Fair dues on Burley's second, that was all round great play by them & not much could be done about it.
With Gomes I daresay it would have been a very different outcome as we had most of the BEST chances.
