if the story is true i think we will get him. Depends what money they want, but the way it goes, is always the same

make an opening bid (a low one)
      turn down the deal
make an improved bid.... (much nearer your real number)
accept / reject depending on health of club
make your final bid (the real one)
      accept / reject.

it often takes three goes, and normally the ones that hit the "major" news services, SKY and BBC normally follow onto a deal.

Im off the research this wee-fella...

Palacios and Appiah in the middle with Modric in behind Adriano and Defoe, sounds great but lets wait and see...
In a world full of City's and United's...there is only one Hotspur

This will be a real test of Redknapp and Levy's word. At the start of the transfer window we set our stall out firmly and said we wouldn't be paying over the odds for players and that if we couldnt get the players we were after for a reasonable price we would stick with what we have got.

Whelan is quoted a s saying "Tottenham are really determined to sign him but for that lad £10m is not enough. We are definately looking for more than that".

I like Palacios but >£10m? Do me a favour. 12 months ago nobody knew who he was. Steve Bruce took him to Wigan from Birmingham for next to nothing. If Whelan thinks he is worth more than £10m then I would say up yours and let someone else stump up the money. Or has football now reached the stage where £10m isnt actually that much money. If so I despair.

Considering the way City are spending, I feel it has already got to that stage.

Good Afternoon, paying over the odds for players is a situation
we have created for ourselves, and the Wigan Chairman is well
aware of this. If we are interested in a player, the price goes up
because we have a recent history of paying ridiculous money for
players. We will need to do the same to get Palacios!

Bentley is a good player, but £15m, is far too much. Pav £13.8m.
Defoe £15m ish for a player we sold for half that. Modric £16m.
      Bent £16m ish in 2007!
Fans want us to buy whatever the price, while we continue to do
that, the asking price will be high.

My guess is if A****** get Arshavin, they will probably pay
less than we have previously offered!

We got good money for Robbie and Berba, that doesn't mean we
should pay overinflated fees for players. Other smaller teams sell
the occasional player for big money, they don't then go out and
pay over the odds for replacements.

We have made a rod for our own backs...
      Kindest Regards Slim.
