Will Mark Hughes end David Bentley's Spurs misery? (From This Is Local London)
This is one of the most believable reports of recent times IMO. Hughes liked Bentley at Blackburn and Hughes will go for Santa Cruz. That's all he needs to make Man C a force to reckon with. Bentley loves being at The Lane but the prospect of being on a team with such potential will win the day. And Hughes will play him on the right!!!!!
if we recoup what we paid for bentley i will be very happy it was another one of comollis joke prices he has paid for another average player let him go to city and get a proper left winger in and leave lennon on the right
dont think it will happen to be honest. i still think the boy will come good. and why would man city want him with all the money they have to spend? surely they could afford a real world class winger?
Give a man a fire, he'll be warm for a night, set a man on fire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life!
Keep him. He showed potential against the gooners. Arry may find someone he can play with in January and he'll be sorted. (Don't sound right does it but you know what I'm trying to say.)
I thought in the match against west brom he seemed quite good before being subbed
If he was played in correct position we would see much better balls going into the box and we would see more confidence from bentley. With magic to follow shortly after![]()
Losing Bentley is not a good idea. Yes, he is a kind of problem, but solving this problem is a part of the general solution. The midfield is out of order, it totally disbalanced. Bentley needs his own place on the field, same with Modric. Finding a key to this magic door would be a half of success. Of course, there might be another signing, but if such a potential player like Bentley can't be mixed in squad this is a bad sign.
na totally disagree with everyone that says let him go, yeah he hasnt come up with the goods yet, but come on have the rest of the team ? put the lad with quality players and he'll shine , probably more than everyone else, he's a quality player in need of some quality around him.
Give him time he will come through as a legend im sure of it, plus he's a yid through and through.
There seems to be a lot of people that would rather we recoup our money so we can go out and get a left winger because of Bentley's dip in form , and im not surprised because of how much we paid for him . But he's a right winger and all the time Lennon is making those blistering runs into the box i cant see his place in the first team being threatened . I actally think that of the two Lennon is more capable of playing on the left wing as he showed against manure where van der sar only just got to his shot after he had run down the wing and then across the defense before cutting in and having a shot . Manure's defense didn't know what had hit them , and all looked at each other afterwards as if they had seen a ghost . I recall Lennon switching places with Malbraque last season for 20 minutes of the game and the same happened then but we got two goals out of it. Both Lennon and Malbranque were making diagonal runs across the pitch and i recall mark lawrenson saying "THIS IS EVERY DEFENDERS NIGHTMARE" on match of the day highlights . I know this goes against the grain but i think Lennon is the more versatile of the two players . If bentley cant play in his natural position after being given the chance , then we should try to recoup our money . But you cant take a player out of position and expect miracles . He is trying to adapt . Most of our problems are in the centre of the park because we have no spine , we need a ball winner that can boss the midfield , but how much is that gonna cost . More to the point who's gonna be available .
Cant see this happening at all, Bentley must sort his game out if he wants to be a legend as some on here think he may be.
The guy had so much to offer Balckburn but looks average apart from his wonder goal against the scum.
As for City well there a circus outfit only offering cash and not quality of football, any player going there says to me there a greedy bastard simple as that.
F*ck Stratford!!!!
for bentley to shine i mean really shine he needs the position to be his own !!! all this switching back and forth playing then subbing him is no good .
lennon can indeed play on the left but after this particular transfer window i dont believe we will have this problem as either lennon or bentley will be gone .
"The great fallacy is that the game is first and foremost about winning. It's nothing of the kind. The game is about glory. It's about doing things in style, with a flourish, about going out and beating the other lot, not waiting for them to die of boredom."

I think Bentley is a quality player, in a way I'd blame his poor form on the ability of our strikers.
It seems that since Bentley left Blackburn, Mccarthy and Cruz have scored less in comparison to the last seasons, and at the same time since leaving Blackburn Bentley's Goal scoring and Assist Levels have dropped.
That tells me that maybe our strikers have something to answer for.
Excellent post kev
Lennon has a strong game while playing on the left wing
With his pace he can expose opposition on either side of the park
Playing Bentley left only exposes his lack of pace
and Spurs 08
This is also a strong possibility
If bentley was droppin long balls on top of berba or cruz his assist count would be through the roof
They can have him for silly money mate.
Brill Cream boy needs to shape up or ship out IMO!!! Currently not a fan!!
Bentley seems to run hot and cold..........doesn't exactly inspire me with his lack of pace. Where as Lennon has that exciting quality about him, with his skill and speed, although his distribution is not that hot.
Sorry Bentley, I know which one i would prefer to stay behind, if we have to lose one of you two. But, having said that, ive seen far worse than Bentley around, i just don't think we have seen the best of him.
