Ekotto v Bale?

Benoit Assou-Ekotto has been preferred in recent games, while Bale was given his chance against NEC.
Who would you choose, if you were Arry?
I would go for Bale despite him going off the boil recently. I'm sure with a run of games Bale's form and confidence will return.
Ekotto worries me with some of his stray passes.

Agreed that Bale would be my choice, but I think Arry is being quite savy by playing a vastly (but not anywhere near good enough) improved BAE on a regular basis.

I think he is looking to show the chairman and then fans what he needs by using what is at his disposal (BAE and Bale) and in doing so is increasing the price of BAE to either move on or see if he can cut it at the top level.

Either way he's shown that we need a left back and or a left winger.

I think the competition in the squad especially down the other flank shows that it can have a positive effect but seems to have rattled Bale a little.

Bale is our future but right now he is under Arry's probation and Arry is doing a good job in not making bale play week in week out becoz he is still very young,only 19 !

i would not play bale in the left back position at all !!! he does not seem to like the position and looks a better player when bombing down the wing .

ekkoto has improved of late and deserves his LB position right now .

I cant stand the sight the of BAE he is a terrible defender and makes countless mistakes every game he plays in, Bale is a great player if not lacking a little confidence at the mo but id choose him over BAE every time.
I think Arry should offload BAE and put a decent bid in for Bridge that way giving us excellent cover at left back.

nah im sorry i disagree with u guys, BAE has been performing ever so well since the arsenal game and he has tightened up his defence alot. Dont get me wrong I think bale is the better player technically but he is getting caught out of position time and time again, on top of that his distrubution has been woeful of late............. way below his standard. Wide players are also skipping past him quite easily that is why arry has gone with BAE instead.

as things stand, neither so called bae, or gareth bale are players who would be automatic 1st team sqaud players in what is at the minute the top four none off the two them are top drawer, although bale does seem to play for the shirt!, he gives 100pc every time! if all the players done that!!!!.thfc4life, yido.

Bale is definitely short on confidence but had a tidy game on Thursday and got an assist which should do him wonders. I do wonder if the 'never won a premier game' is getting inside his head a little though. I'd stick with BAE today and then, as a previous poster said, if were heading for a comfortable win get Bale on later in the game.

i think bale is a top top player just going thrugh a bad spell at the moment bae i dont rate at all i think we missed a great chance not signing matty tylor a couple of seasons back as im sure i read hes a lifelong yid could b wrong on that but maybe harry can team up with him again in jan as i think he really would suit our style of play plus he scores his fair share of goals and likes a tackle

They're both a liability, Bale will never be a defender as long as he's got a hole in his ass, BAE is good going forward but again like Bale can't defend to save his life. BAE should be sold and Bale should concentrate on his best position in left midfield, it's not like we have anyone else who is any good in that position.
